Europeans discounting Trump's summit with Putin as "meaningless"

Despite President Trump's deference to Russian President Vladimir Putin at their post-summit press conference in Helsinki on Monday, several senior administration officials say the State Department is not getting bombarded with concerns from US allies because they have concluded that Trump and Putin did not make any firm agreements.

"There isn't a lot of clean-up because there doesn't seem to be a lot of spillage," one senior official said. "The feedback we are getting from the Europeans is that they are relieved. They were worried he was going to give away the store and he didn't. So they aren't thrilled with the optics, but they are fine." {snip}

A senior State Department official said neither the administration nor its allies sense the "climate of crisis" being portrayed in the media or by lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

Did he “give away the store” to Kim or Xi? Then why would do that with Putin? The Europeans surely know that if Putin had anything on Trump we’d have seen it by now. Putin wanted Hillary and you can’t tell me anything different. It’d be just like when FDR was so sick and dying and the Soviet agents in the administration were doing whatever Stalin wanted done.

I think Putin figured (with all the news media hype helping) that Hillary would win. Any massive effort to get into the DNC computers...simply was a good strategy to get insider info, and to figure out the folks who have insider tickets to the President Hillary-era. It would make perfect sense to get the list of names....know their stakes, and how to counter their anti-Russia strategies.

I think Putin woke up on 9 November, and was as shocked as most other people. He probably called in the KGB crew...asked what happened, and they said there just wasn’t enough fake votes, dead-folks voting, and illegals voting.

Putin is probably even more shocked that today (18 months into the Trump era)...that Putin is no longer the number one BAD guy for the Europeans. Trump is. Putin worked hard for thirty years...to be the number one bad guy in the world, and he probably is terribly upset over his number two status. (sarcasm off)
