STUDENTS painted over Rudyard Kipling's poem 'If' claiming the Jungle Book author was racist.

They replaced the wall mural with Still I Rise by Maya Angelou saying Kipling stood for the "opposite of liberation, empowerment and human rights".

Sara Khan, Liberation and Access Officer at the University of Manchester Students Union, said on Facebook: "A failure to consult students during the process of adding art to the newly renovated SU building resulted in Rudyard Kipling's work being painted on the first floor last week.

"We, as an exec team, believe that Kipling stands for the opposite of liberation, empowerment, and human rights - the things that we, as an SU, stand for." She singled out Kipling's poem The White Man's Burden which she says "sought to legitimate the British Empire's presence in India and de-humanise people of colour."

Fatima Abid, the general secretary of Manchester's SU, posted on Twitter: "Today, as a team we removed an imperialist's work from the walls of our union...

It could as easily have been about “being a woman, my daughter” in a broader minded age. If one looks for boogiepersons, one finds them all over.

This action by the Cultural Marxists illustrates what they are about. There is no end to it. They will tear down Western Culture, brick by brick, until humanity is but a survivor in the rubble.

The Stranger by Rudyard Kipling

The Stranger within my gate,
He may be true or kind,
But he does not talk my talk--
I cannot feel his mind.
I see the face and the eyes and the mouth,
But not the soul behind.

The men of my own stock,
They may do ill or well,
But they tell the lies I am wanted to,
They are used to the lies I tell;
And we do not need interpreters
When we go to buy or sell.

The Stranger within my gates,
He may be evil or good,
But I cannot tell what powers control--
What reasons sway his mood;
Nor when the Gods of his far-off land
Shall repossess his blood.

The men of my own stock,
Bitter bad they may be,
But, at least, they hear the things I hear,
And see the things I see;
And whatever I think of them and their likes
They think of the likes of me.

This was my father's belief
And this is also mine:
Let the corn be all one sheaf--
And the grapes be all one vine,
Ere our children's teeth are set on edge
By bitter bread and wine.

They would have done better to replace it with ‘The Gods Of the Copybook Headings’, than any Angelou crapfest.

The comments on the article page are worth reading. Here is an example:

@gussy musty
I agree with everything you say except for the chasing tigers in Nigeria bit :)

Get rid of anything else but keep the bible, and you can rebuild.

Maya Angelou poems sound like they were written by a low IQ 9 year old.

That’s a tad pessimistic. Melting pots do work. But the key is that of foreign allegiances. Hence problems like reconquista.

THE WRATH OF THE AWAKENED SAXON

by Rudyard Kipling

It was not part of their blood,
It came to them very late,
With long arrears to make good,
When the Saxon began to hate.

They were not easily moved,
They were icy — willing to wait
Till every count should be proved,
Ere the Saxon began to hate.

Their voices were even and low.
Their eyes were level and straight.
There was neither sign nor show
When the Saxon began to hate.

It was not preached to the crowd.
It was not taught by the state.
No man spoke it aloud
When the Saxon began to hate.

It was not suddently bred.
It will not swiftly abate.
Through the chilled years ahead,
When Time shall count from the date
That the Saxon began to hate.

Another problem is the assumption that lies have to be in the picture. Islam is the only major system that calls it a virtue to lie. If truth is the rule, any other culture can cope.

Kipling was writing from the perspective of a Westerner who grew up amidst the turmoil of the British Raj. He foresaw the muslim problem for the west which he clearly describes in these lines:
But I cannot tell what powers control--
What reasons sway his mood;
Nor when the Gods of his far-off land
Shall repossess his blood.
Kipling nails the muslim problem completely. We never know what foreign gods control their psyche, hence the "sudden jihad" syndrome.

Yes the melting pot can work, but only for those who want to be melted. The reconquista which you mentioned is a perfect example of people who don't want to be melted, as are all the muslims. They don't come to be Americans. They come to supplant Americans.

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ‘em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
‘ Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And - which is more - you’ll be a Man, my son!

It’s unfortunate they couldn’t find another English poet to substitute, if they must, but went for an American one instead.

Hey Sara - FU. You’re the fascist/Marxist who erases history whenever you don’t understand it.

All your life’s work will be corrupting young minds that should be learning about “diversity” in writings, people, and viewpoints.

Long after you are worm-food, Kipling’s works will still be read by the intelligence and the learners.

Literature of high philosophical value and wisdom that applies to everyone due to its universal truth about human nature, the human condition, and the human struggle, is being eradicated in favor of literature that is valued ONLY for political correctness, which could be the nature of its subject is PC or because it is authored by a minority or woman.

American civilization in rapid decay. The collapse is coming fast, folks. I kiss the ground and thank the Lord my God daily that I am old and won’t be around to see the actual collapse. I grieve for young people and apologize to then that we could not stave off the collapse longer. I am very fortunate to have been born in the 1950s and not later. Very fortunate. Thank you, Lord.

Do you really think they will keep the Holy Bible when all is said and done? Bibles will be among the first books burned when the Firemen come to take people’s books away before sending them to the re-education camps. They fear the Bible more than any other book.
