The suspected gunman who fatally shot a Hawaii County police officer during a Tuesday night traffic stop and then fled into a wooded area was the subject of an intense dragnet Wednesday, as authorities combed the Big Island just 20 miles from where lava flows recently devastated residential areas. The Hawai'i Police Department said in a news release that officers were conducting a traffic stop around 9:45 p.m. along Highway 11 in Mountain View, located about 15 miles southwest of Hilo, when the driver of a vehicle -- identified as 33-year-old Justin Waiki -- got out and fired "multiple shots" at officers. Police said Officer Bronson K. Kaliloa was struck in the "neck and leg area," as other officers at the scene immediately returned fire. Waiki then fled into the brush on foot, and managed to elude officers giving chase, according to police.

Wow....guns HEAVILY regulated in Hawaii.
What a sad situation. My deepest sympathy to Officer Kaliloa’s family and friends.
Waiki has a criminal record of 37 prior arrests and 16 convictions, three of which were felony convictions of promotion of a dangerous drug, forgery and ownership or possession prohibited of a firearm.
Catch and release.
Makaloa hana hili.
Seems the Liberals can’t figure it out that “catch and release” just doesn’t work. Scum like Justin Waiki need to be dealt the ultimate, capital punishment!
Ok enough of the stupid mocking of Hawaiian.
RIP.
Does he do Hawaiian birth certificates?
Ditto.
I wonder what the neck tattoo is. Probably not “My Little Pony.”
BMFF
Also sounds like a 5-0 plot.
Well he wont get far.
WIthout a wall he will escape into Mexico.
Seems like a zero sum game to shoot a cop on an island. But after seeing the pic he probably failed math anyway.
Well first he has to get off an island that is quite a bit distant from Mexico.
Liberal paradise. Isnt it legal to murder police there?
He murdered a cop, his odds of surviving capture are pretty low.
There must be a misprint, Hawaii has gun control, therefore this crime could not have happened.
This must have occurred in gun crazy Texas.
