No.
NO. Congress is happy with its evolving status as the 7th or 8th co-equal branch of government.
Congress cares not a whit about justice; they care about the cameras.
Congress created all of those agencies to delegate its authority to the Executive Branch. Most of those agencies need to be abolished to force Congress to do its job.
They are afraid to act for a lot of reasons.
Right now one of the big reasons is that the minute they dare take action against a democrat, communist, anarchist, etc. the media rips their throats out.
No. Next question.
Trump needs to step in *now* and re-empower both the house and the senate oversight committees or he will just be a 1 term oddball President from an oddball election. There are many high ranking bureaucrats who have been ‘institutionalized’ in far left ideology and displacing those ranks up there with appointing the right judges for the right court.
Don’t get bogged down Mr. President. Take action now while you can. Mueller and particularly Rosenstein have exposed themselves with the news of 12 more indictments — done purposely to obscure your current message and battlefield victories. It’s the war we need to win.
This is another of the inescapable conclusions in my e-book: No accountability.
The question as posited by Turley is well-stated, but merely rhetorical.
Congress is focused on elections, not doing their job. Then again...when is the last time anyone remembers Congress actually doing their job?
I just gave myself a headache considering a much more appropriate question than Turley’s...
Their main concern are their Wall St. investments.
Insider-trading, you know!
Contempt? Maybe. Will they ever exercise their real authority, the “Power of the Purse”, and reduce or eliminate their budgets until they understand that the Constitution means what it says? Not one chance in hell!
Matt Gaetz, I believe, was questioned about contempt or impeachment for Rosenstein.
He said he thinks that it won’t happen because the leadership doesn’t want it...Ryan, McCarthy, Scalise...
In the meantime, they have injured Jim Jordan’s rise to the speakership with their slime attack.
Given the dirt those agencies have on the Congresscritters?
No.
Congress has power only to levy taxes, authorize spending, and pass legislation. These powers are no longer because Congresspersons:
1) lack the discipline to withhold spending from anything, ever.
2) are cowards who fear restricting law enforcement, counter-terrorism, counter-intel, etc. in any way, lest they be blamed when something dire happens.
3) are mostly amateurs who cannot stand up to 1000’s of “tenured” bureaucrats. Complex issues require specialization to fully understand. Usually out of their depth, Congresspersons become puppets of staff experts, who go in and out of executive department jobs, and lobbyists.
4) are ignorant morons, drunks, crooks, lechers, and self-aggrandizing egomaniacs, i.e., they reflect their constituencies.
5) have surrendered much of their role in legislating to bureaucrats by authorizing executive department “Administrative Law” due to all the above.
What is the punishment for being held in contempt by congress? A stern letter?
Trump and the Republicans seem to be possibly walking a fine line.
On the one hand they need to do something about the rampant corruption of the Deep State but on the other hand the Democrats have built a scaffold 50 cubits high hoping to hang Trump on it but have not yet noticed that the noose is around their own necks.
At some point someone needs to point at them and say “An adversary and an enemy, even these wicked Deep State Democrats!”
The question, sadly, it if anyone will. The Republicans have a history of letting the Democrats wiggle free.
No!
No. Because they’re all in bed together and their wallets would take a hit.
Congress wont even hold their own members in contempt, but they will put on some great kabuki theater for entertainment.
As regards this topic, please see tagline. It’s all there.
