Then on Friday, Schnatter told Louisville radio station WHAS that he was just talking the way that the Colonel talked.
Colonel Sanders grandson Trigg Adams told the Louisville Courier Journal on Wednesday that it is an absolute lie that Sanders used the racial slur or any other racially offensive words.
Hes a weasel, Adams said about Schnatter, the Courier Journal reported. Because he's prejudiced, hes trying to say somebody else was, too. (Sanders) had absolutely no prejudice against anybody. Sanders, who died in 1980, donated more than $20 million to charities, including to black churches, Adams added.

I didn't see this follow up to the John Schnatter story but the Colonel certainly deserves his defense to be aired as well. That he, the Colonel, never used such words as alleged. Colonel Sanders probably has given a lot of jobs to people across the spectrum.
Headline should read “scandal” as in “Colonel Sanders’ family defends him amid Papa John’s scandal”, not “scand”, my error.
Once the kin-folks of the Colonel laid down the weasel statement on Schnatter...it’s pretty much a broad insult.
Right. Sanders was a saint. Cough, cough.
Tempest in a teapot.
Good God all mighty.....
mom-me mom-me he called me a.......name!!!! waaaaa
Children played by adults with power, sick.
They ought to sue for the jerk defaming their brand. It will cost KFC big bucks to counter this lie.
Are you thinking of Dave Thomas from Wendys?
I’ve read there’s an organization that awards the honorary designation of Kentucky Colonel to men and women of all races who have served the interest of the state of Kentucky by positive service or promotion of the state of Kentucky. They would not want the image of a traditional Southern gentleman besmirched as a racist symbol. I first heard of the group when a British author proudly listed this honor in his author biography in a book he wrote that talked about Kentucky.
I stand corrected, it was Dave Thomas of Wendy’s. Thank you for the correction.
Dismiss all you like, but one day John Schattner had a little where-with-all, and the next not squat. It is serious business when this stuff starts. You’re darn tooting skippy that I would defend my grandfather. At least he has family pride.
Did Colonel Sanders teach him to speak ? Whether it is the president of a company or the president of the country who uses the word doesn’t make it right. They may have given jobs but fast food burdens the public way more in increased health care costs than it contributes. A pox on both their houses.
When black entertainers stop using the word, everyone else can stop. Until then? All bets are off.
He was White, and therefore is guilty, guilty, guilty. There is no defense if you are White. The mere accusation is enough to convict and sentence you. There is no recourse, and you are allowed no defense.
Not exactly, Schattner committed an unforced error, he spoke a racial slur in a professional context, which was poor judgement at least. In doing so he asserted something (about Colonel Sanders) that he did not have first hand or second hand knowledge about.
Next, he then muffed his response by effectively admitting “guilt” by resigning (his second resignation under pressure in less than a year) as company chairman. If he had not resigned, he could have demanded an inquiry, but he effectively surrendered.
His stupidity gave his opponents within and outside the company a golden opportunity to get rid of him.
Senior corporate executives cannot be so stupid, he was, and now he is out.
One of the left’s favorite presidents, Harry S. Truman was a member of the KKK.
So what. It was a different world.
NO ONE is that smart - especially when the SJW’s change the rules of decorum at whim.
What Papa John said isn’t racist and while possibly wrong it was nothing worth this level of hysteria and outrage. (I’ve heard the stories about Colonel Sanders as well - his KFC persona is just that... a persona)
Frankly I’m disgusted at the number of people that are ready to crucify him without knowing the full evidence other than an out of context quote.
