I don’t follow comics and I don’t follow sports (but my wonderful wife follows baseball so I keep up due to her).

My brain filters everything through politics (as I heard Pat Buchanan’s sister say once). I say for debates and elections and demographic analysis of results—THIS is my sports event.

So then you not only didn’t miss anything from the simple comic book world but you also enhanced your life and enriched it with new knowledge through reading.

Many are still fighting with each other over whether or not a certain character should have been killed off in a comic series and no longer speaking to a former friend who disagreed. Absurd.

Oh wow. That’s gotta suck. I could dust off my books and teach you D&D. ;-)

I wonder what those who have a financial interest in the box office total think about this?

I'm sure they're internally conflicted.

The SJW crowd has freed up so much of my time, I used to see a movie a month, not I have an entire day or more of free time this year!

"they’ve been told that they don’t like him, and so they don’t like him."

Exactly! Excessive LMSM consumption has been linked to brain damage (TDS).

It's no surprise of course, but still sorry to hear that Zoe Kravitz is a lefty.

She and the other wives did a superb ensemble performance in "Fury Road"

The late Harlan Ellison said anyone still obsessively fascinated by comics after they pass age 9 is an idiot.

Only because back then comics wouldn't show a protagonist killing a woman and feeding her to a dog.

Today they probably would.

I guess that would depend on the definition of “obsessively fascinated”, because I know a lot of people who are obsessively fascinated with sports on TV and they shout at it like the TV can hear and tell the coach what he is doing wrong.

I agree with Harlan Ellison. You've described another species of idiot. There's no shortage of idiocy floating around in popular culture (which is grown in a petri dish).

My Mom would not buy me comic books when I was young.

Brother? My parents had the same line of thinking. Around age 10, I started reading some of Dad's AFSC history books. I'm quite sure I didn't 'get' everything first time around, but I certainly found history a lot more fascinating than fiction.

I gladly admit to reading and enjoying a lot of science fiction as well but as I grew older that waned.

I enlisted in the Air Force right out of high school and my duties were so all-consuming and technical that even science fiction became boring. I turned more and more to all sorts of history for my enjoyment.

As an aside, by the time I was in Junior High School I was reading about the Soviet Union and Russia prior to Communism. As I watched the evening news and read the newspapers I started making then connection between the Communists and the Democrats. This was back in the early 70's yet I saw how their propaganda was nearly identical. I became a conservative at a very young age because of my reading many books on history.

They didn’t learn from GamerGate, they aren’t learning from ComicsGate, they didn’t learn from the NFL, they didn’t learn from Soylo....it’s almost like they can’t help but double down.
