First time I have heard that Christians embraced Putin. I have heard it said Christianity is alive and well in Russia, and that Putin regularly attends a Russian Orthodox Church, and that the Russian Orthodox Church is the only church worldwide to supports the beleaguered Christian churches in Syria and other places in the Mideast. Putin's Russia persecutes every church except for Russian Orthodox Church(ROC). In a dirty deal, Putin gets support from the Russian Orthodox Church and in return squashes any competition from Baptists, Protestants and other evangelicals.

Gleb Yakunin, a critic of the Moscow Patriarchate who was one of those who briefly gained access to the KGB archive documents in the early 1990s, argued that the Moscow Patriarchate was "practically a subsidiary, a sister company of the KGB". The idea that “The Christian Right” is necessarily represented by the National Prayer Breakfast is absurd. The headline should read, “Why the NY Post wants you to believe the Christian Right has embraced Putin.” And “sanctions everything Trump did/does” could be added.
