Police in the Bay Area are searching for a 27-year-old man who they say brutally stabbed two sisters at an Oakland train station Sunday night, leaving one of them dead.
John Lee Cowell is accused of stabbing 18-year-old Nia Wilson and her 26-year-old sister in the neck and body around 9:30 p.m. at the MacArthur Bay Area Rapid Transit station in Oakland, according to BART police.
Wilson died of her injuries at the scene, while her older sister remains in stable condition, officials said.
News of the killing stoked public concern that a hate crime had been committed. Cowell is white and Wilson is black.

Cowell was described as a transient with a criminal history, though police have searched for him at addresses in Contra Costa and Alameda counties. Trost could not immediately elaborate on his criminal history.

I consider media actions to be an offense to me personally. At this time I am making angry posts on the FR website. They’d better hold their hands over their eyes.
This would never even be brought up if the races were reversed; it would be just another “random” crime, count on it. The article has absolutely NO evidence of a hate crime, yet they just throw that out there.

I’ve only been there (since the 70’s) for a couple of days in the Summer a few years ago.
Seemed largely OK in the daylight in the downtowny areas with the notable exception of the BART station by their airport.

The Oakland stations have always been sketchy. Within the last couple of years there have been mobs of 50 or 60 dindus that invade the trains and rob all the passengers and play the Knockout Game on them.
I haven't visited Oakland in the last 15 years, nor do I transit the highways through the city, it is simply not worth the risk.
Additionally, I will not stop in San Francisco although I worked there more than 25 years. I will transit a specific street route to access the Golden Gate Bridge, but nowhere else for the same reasons.
Curiously, my route is near Feinstein's and Pelosi's homes and is safe, but it's just coincidence.

If it can be characterized as a Hate Crime then it is important and there must be much wailing about it and the perp must pay with many years in prison. If it is simply a murder then it is of no account and should be ignored. Simple murder should be no more than a misdemeanor. If any misdemeanor can have Hate Crime added to it then the perp should get 20 years at least. Same goes for traffic tickets. If a man’s speeding 6 mph over the limit happened because of Hate then his ticket should lead to prison for ten years.
