This is the most interesting part of the story:
“We are reducing today the size of the editorial team by approximately 50 percent and re-focusing much of our talent on breaking news—especially in areas of crime, civil justice and public responsibility.”
They are so desperate they are going to try to make money by pushing actual news (even if slanted) and cutting way back on opinion content.
Reality bites hard.
The low overhead Gothamist did NOT survive; they must have missed that bit of local news? Are the latest Gothamist wage slaves receiving union scale and bennies? All six of them.
Gothamist LLC was the operator, or in some cases franchisor, of eight city-centric websites that focused on news, events, food, culture, and other local coverage.
