The Seattle Times gets it wrong. It is a state wide initiative, not just for King County. Here's a link to the text of Initiative 1639. This is almost as bad as Initiative 676, also from Washington State. I-1639 proposes licensing and registering "semiautomatic assault rifles", which as far as I can tell it never defines under law. The licensing and registration requirements will be impossible to implement with the time allowed, just like I-676.

No, the article is about King County's proposed gun sign law.

I-1639 is only an also mention.

This initiative is already being challenged in a lawsuit due to the fact that it directly gives lat s the state’s initiative statute which says any initiative can only cover one single subject. It also is against the state’s preemptive n law.
