Rush is talking about this article on his radio program presently. That prompted me to post it. Enjoy.

Interesting. “Data from the Voter Study Group show that more than 80% of his votes came from men and women who voted for Republican nominee Mitt Romney just four years before.”

That means 20% are people who didn’t vote for Romney (who sucks, bad). That’s where the story is.

Thanks, blam.

I am confident that the base is fully aware of how critical the situation is and will be more fired up this Nov. than they were Nov., 2016.

“They presume that because Trump is so unconventional in style, his coalition must be equally unconventional”

Even this a$$hole doesn't get it! Trump isn't unconventional. Unconventional is what we've been treated to by both the RATs and the RINOs for probably 50 years, with RR’s tenure being an exception. Trump personifies what the Founding Fathers were crafting with the formation of our government. It's “modern day politicians” who have bastardized our government in order to make a buck for themselves. Just think where we would be today had Trump followed Reagan! No Clingons, no Booshes, no illegal alien, Jug-eared Black criminals.

One does not have to like Trump personally (I don’t) to support him. He’s getting things accomplished. When I voted for him I wanted it to accomplish two things:

1. I wanted Hillary defeated.
2. I wanted a conservative in Antonin Scalia’s seat.

I got both those things. But we’re getting a lot of gravy on top of that. I’m pretty darn happy with winning.

Even if he were ten times as flawed as he is, we would have to stick with Trump to the end.

The Left has shown its hand. Should they ever take power again they have the Gulag planned for all of us.

Desperate, hysterical talking heads can’t touch him, especially when the things he does keep getting it so right. Who cares what he says?

Trump supporters who follow news at all cannot escape the daily blast of negativity. This has, predictably, hardened the attitudes of many Trump supporters. As minor issues are blown up into major catastrophes, it’s not surprising that potentially major issues ...get overlooked. It’s “boy who cried wolf” syndrome writ large; when the media cries “wolf” at every passing shadow, many Trump backers simply don’t believe them...

He's right on this one part...of course it's not the only reason we don't trust the press but 'crying wolf on everything' is ONE of the reasons. One out of about 15...

They also make the mistake of thinking that out support of Trump is based on what the media says about him. In fact, the more they hate, the more we like.

"...it might serve to re-elect him against a strong progressive candidate two years hence..."

OK, I give up!

Where do they think that they'll find one of these?

Interesting article, and thanks for posting. What the author actually is offering here is an explanation for the media refrain "It isn't working!" that is starting to echo throughout the Beltway bubble. There is in fact a massive misconception about Trump's support that persists past all reason. To put it bluntly, his supporters are systematically and repeatedly vilified 24/7 by people who then wonder why they are so angry.

Trump supporters who follow news at all cannot escape the daily blast of negativity.

Just so, and not only those who follow the news. When one cannot tune in to a comedy program, awards ceremony, or even a nominally apolitical fictional series without being personally belittled and held in open contempt, pretty soon turning the crap off is a pretty viable option. These aren't simply attacks on the President, they're attacks on the enemy, and you're it. Not Trump, you. The only wonder is that there is anyone in the media who expects a positive result from that sort of thing.

And it's more than the media. Within the Democrat party itself the rhetoric of hatred and racism continues to build out of control to the point where "moderate" Democrats (if that isn't a contradiction in terms these days) are publicly complaining about it. They won't be doing anything about it that isn't merely cosmetic, though - they've already lost.

Trump is more in tune with the Repubican base than any president since Reagan. And that’s why he’s been successful.
