I’m not knowledgeable about Bandar Homeni (Shapur), so I can’t address that part, but I agree with your comments, and might with that also if I understood it more.
During the GW war in Iraq, it was my take that Iran was training and arming terrorist it would send into Iraq.
It was my take then that we were allowing it to get away with being our enemy. Iran could have been more or less neutered at that time > IMO, and we were in the region already.
Bandar Homeni is lots of Iranian eggs in a single basket located just minutes away from Saudi Arabia
The destrucution though not crippling would be a very serious blow to Irqnian commerce and petrpleum business both domestic and foreign.
