I've been thinking about that on and off today. For example, if you were the Police Chief of a city, or the Sheriff of a county, it would be an accomplishment to be proud of. However, if a grand jury indicted you, whether or not you were ultimately convicted, it would haunt you for the rest of your life.

I think it is a similar situation with Rosenstein. The head of the FBI is arguably the most prestigious law enforcement position in the world. And here, at the pinnacle of achievement, the United States Congress is on the verge of an impeachment, or "indictment," and in essence saying that Rosenstein has acted in a dishonorable or even criminal manner. It puts a huge mark of disgrace on his career, and shames him before all who rise to the rank of law enforcement leaders. I think that DOES bother Rosenstein a lot! We will see.

Why? Right now chances are that the Republicans will hold the majority. I realized I could change but we never have less than 50% odds here. People are waking up and see through this b******* nowadays.

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other ‘high Crimes and Misdemeanors.’... The Constitution, Article I, Section 3: The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments.

High crimes and misdemeanors. ... The charge of high crimes and misdemeanors covers allegations of misconduct peculiar to officials, such as perjury of oath, abuse of authority, bribery, intimidation, misuse of assets, failure to supervise, dereliction of duty, unbecoming conduct, and refusal to obey a lawful order.

Now what’s needed is for some congressmen to prove they have a pair.

That all starts with Paul Ryan. Unless he agrees, this goes nowhere.

Even if your scenario plays out, Sessions is still recused. We have to find a way to restore the full authority of the Attorney General's office.

One the one hand, there is my scenario. Sessions rescinds his recusal based on the accumulation of facts that we've learned in the past 18 months. This puts Sessions squarely in the spotlight, and it's sink or swim time for him after that.

On the other hand, President Trump can fire Sessions and dare Senate Republicans to hold to their threat to retaliate even after learning everything we have in the last 18 months. In this scenario, Trump's hole card is that he needs an unencumbered AG who can clean up the mess at the DoJ, FBI, CIA, and NSA, and a Deputy Assistant Deputy won't cut it.

If McConnel and Co. drag their feet on confirming a new Attorney General, Trump can accuse them of defending the people who spied on Americans, paid Russians for fake intelligence, and lied to federal courts.

And the biggest irony of it all is that Sessions' troubles began with a question from Al Franken, who was driven out of the Senate from his own past scandal.

I think you're right. They didn't file it as a privileged motion so they can't force a vote.

Meadows said that they DID file it as a privileged motion. So they CAN force a vote.

Outstanding!!! Yay House Freedom Caucus Patriots!

(Boo nattering nabobs of negativism littering this thread. Armchair loser brigade saying “What’s the point? It will never work. We’re doooooomed...” Their ancestors probably told Adams “What’s the use?”)

Trump needs more ammo to get rid of Rosenstein AND Sessions. This is some more ammo. I’m going to call each signatory’s office tomorrow and thank them. And my senators to support the effort.

Thank God for these Men.

Start the process, then have Trump step in and to save the organization from embarrassment, as well as the country, fire his ass. Then watch the DNC defend him.

What pressure is Mitch under after the midterms? I’ve yet to see Senator McConnell do anything to upset the comity of the Senate unless someone lights a proverbial fire under him.

Talk is so easy. Push forward, forcibly and toss this High Criminal and others out of DC. Hopefully into prison cells.

"I think this is how it plays out. Rosenstein gets impeached. The Senate Dems hold and he does not get removed. And then Trump fires him, blaming the obstructionist Dems."

I think you are right. Trump has an excuse based on the actions of the House.

Mark Meadows is a very smart guy. This wouldn't be happening today just before a recess without a good reason. He has used this technique before and with variations, it may well work again.

This may be the issue that gets both Ryan and Yertle the Turtle replaced as leaders.

If they do not back this impeachment effort, they are toast.
Ryan is already lame duck. Yertle will likely soon move to China with his wife to her business dealing family, all who have thoroughly lined their pockets by selling out the USA.

Rosenstein is a criminal, a racketeer in the crime syndicate that calls itself the Dem Party.

FOX Announces Articles of Impeachment against Rosenstein

I didn't know FOX could do that. I hope CNN can't.

Your optimism is good to read but definitely not shared by the majority of posters on this thread.

We can only hope your prediction is correct.
