Trump Scores HUGE WIN on Trade… Markets EXPLODE

"The E.U. blinked..."

President Donald Trump scored a “major win” on Wednesday by reaching a limited trade deal with the European Union, which made a “major concession” to the United States to avoid a trade war.

That’s according to business news anchor Neil Cavuto of Fox News — a regular Trump critic, who just last week blasted President Trump over his press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland.

Amidst recent tariffs and tensions, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker arrived at the White House with two options for a deal to avoid a wider trade war, according to ABC News: “eliminate tariffs on cars for all trading partners or create a limited free trade agreement between the U.S. and EU on industrial goods.”

Trump opted for the latter — and secured Europe’s agreement to buy more American soybeans and liquified natural gas (LNG). The two also announced that they would begin “to work together toward zero tariffs, zero non-tariff barriers, and zero subsidies on non-auto industrial goods,” in Trump’s words.

Can’t win a trade war unless you engage in one like Trump did...and win it!

Europe had a good situation. Trump gave them a choice between a fair situation or a bad one. Looks like they chose fair. You don’t get someone to give up a structural advantage without waving a stick around first.

Now we need to get rid of ethanol so some of the corn acreage can be planted with soybeans for Europe.

I don’t know which markets he’s talking about. There’s been little movement in any I just checked. Asians markets are steady, commodities and FX are mixed, and futures in Europe and the US aren’t moving much.

The DJIA was bouncing between even and -100 for most of the day until it jump 150 points around 3:30pm EDT when this was announced. I walked by the TV in the break room when they showed the chart and the soybean chart, but the sound was down so I had no idea what happened. They did show some podiums with US and EU flags around them so I figured some big announcement was pending.

Can’t win a trade war if you never fight back. We have been getting hosed for decades.

Who would have thought Trump would be the best president since George Washington?

Well played...

Besides gasoline prices the biggest that that will cause people to notice that Trump cares about them will be when beef prices drop.
