An Iranian military commander said on Thursday Donald Trump should address any threats against Tehran directly to him, and mocked the US president as using the language of "nightclubs and gambling halls".
The comments by Maj-Gen Qassem Suleimani, who heads the Quds Force of Irans powerful Revolutionary Guards, were the latest salvo in a war of words between the two countries.
"As a soldier, it is my duty to respond to Trumps threats. If he wants to use the language of threat, he should talk to me, not to the president [Hassan Rouhani]," Soleimani was quoted as saying by the Iranian Young Journalists Club.
Soleimanis message was in essence a warning to the US to stop threatening Iran with war or risk exposing itself to an Iranian response.
"We are near you, where you cant even imagine Come. We are ready. If you begin the war, we will end the war," Tasnim news agency quoted Soleimani as saying.
On Sunday night, Trump said in a tweet directed at Rouhani: "Never, ever threaten the US again or you will suffer consequences the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered before . We are no longer a country that will stand for your demented words . Be cautious!" A day earlier, Rouhani had said in a speech that hostile US policies could lead to "the mother of all wars".
Fanning the heightened tensions, US national security adviser John Bolton said in a statement on Monday: "President Trump told me that if Iran does anything at all to the negative, they will pay a price like few countries have ever paid before."
Bolton is a proponent of interventionist foreign policy and was US ambassador to the UN in the administration of George Bush during the Iraq war....

If Soleimani is such a great soldier why does he not fight? His only agressive capability is to hide behind the skirts of surrogaes. He never risks his own blood.
The man is in effect a coward
Lol our nukes work.
Be careful in your assessment. I'm not familiar with Suleimani, but am pretty studied up on the head of the Iranian Navy. He's no fool, is well trained and experienced.
In the long run, we are the superior force and the most motivated. But it could be very bloody.
So what is the practical possibility that tactical nukes haven’t been planted in several US cities during the Usurper’s term for just this sort of emergency?
They were talking about insurance policies out in the open in 2016, but what about prior to that?
Is it beyond the realm of imagination that nukes, NBC’s, or some other variant haven’t been placed, and that breadcrumb trails leading to other players like Russia haven’t been put in place?
I know factually that many of the routes out of certain areas are designed to be ‘cut-off’ in a very short period of time in the event of contagion, for example. You can imagine how a closure of a major thoroughfare might be accomplished in a way as to prevent the flow of people out of an area in massive numbers.
Infiltration. Access to utility command functions. Disruption of communication systems. Computer networks coordinating shipping. Banking transaction clearinghouse. Congressional staff. Military units...

“He never risks his own blood. The man is in effect a coward.”
Talk is cheap. Takes money to buy whiskey!
“We are near you, where you cant even imagine.....”
Sleeper cells that 8 years of Obama put into place.
Something we all should have learned in recent years and especially since Iraq War, is just because someone is quoted in the lying media doesn’t make it or translation true. The neoconservative interventionalists have wasted far too much money and lives in the ME waging profitable for them wars. Iran is not our problem. We need to keep our nose out as Trump promised and not sacrifice our country.
Yes. Not a fix-all, but important.
By the time Iran could mount an operation to seriously challenge our quite large force in Qatar, that operation would be flattened, sunk, etc. Check a map...
What do you think follows if Iran acquires nukes?
What do you think follows if Iran closes the Gulf? (Can only happen if we stand aside.)
Oh I imagine so. Iran had a lot of difficult with Saddam’s forces.
Qassem Suleimani is a rentboy who dresses in girls clothes.
And that’s his positives.
We should have set a precedent years ago and economically sanctioned any country outside of US,UK,France,Soviet, China that developed nukes. We would not have this situation if the genie was not allowed out if the bag.
