Taking on public employee unions is fraught with political risk. If Walker goes down to defeat, I expect his implementation of the requirement that these unions be recertified annually will have been a key factor. I’m also inclined to believe that his complete lack of charisma is a factor, just as it contributed to his early exit from the 2016 primaries. If he loses, it will become clear that GOP hopes for the conversion of WI to a red state, much like its southern strongholds, are way premature.

Outside of Milwaukee, Racine and Madistan WI IS a red State.

Walker was my early-on favorite in the 2016 race.

As you recall he dropped out rather early.
My read on that was he had been ordered to drop out by the GOP establishment, who had decided to clear the tracks for Jeb!

He apparently saluted and followed orders.
It is that as much as anything that will hurt him with the Trump voters. They don’t cotton to GOPe lackeys.
