NY Times publisher tells Trump anti-press attacks 'dangerous and harmful'

The publisher of the New York Times has warned Donald Trump in a White House meeting that the president's escalating attacks on the news media are "inflammatory" and "dangerous and harmful to our country."
Trump's meeting with A.G. Sulzberger, who took the reins of the prestigious newspaper on Jan. 1, took place July 20, following a request from the White House for what appeared to be a routine get-to-know-you session.
The session, which also included Times editorial page editor James Bennet, had remained secret under mutual agreement until Trump tweeted about it early Sunday.
"Had a very good and interesting meeting at the White House with A.G. Sulzberger, Publisher of the New York Times," Trump said on Twitter.
"Spent much time talking about the vast amounts of Fake News being put out by the media & how that Fake News has morphed into phrase, 'Enemy of the People.' Sad!"
Sulzberger, in a statement released by the Times, said the president's tweet effectively "put the meeting on the record," and he described what appeared to be an unusually tough and blunt session with the president.

The first time I really noticed the complicity of the media in politics was in 06 mid terms. That’s 12 years ago and I felt like a lone wolf making that argument to my friends. I always thought people on the internet were ahead of the curve, but I’m thinking it took 12 years for the problem to finally get noticed. Trump is doing that and with the media there is no going back to neutral reporting. They are doubling down. There are short windfall profits for doing this but the longer the media pursues this course the more they are tarnished and discredited. They are digging their own grave for a good price on each shovelful of dirt.
Part of the problem is the media’s pride in thinking that they determine the news rather than reporting on it. Furthermore, that they can come back from a bad reputation by fair reporting and the public will go along with it. It’s too late for that. That’s like trusting Bernie Madoff even though he has repented... his reputation is destroyed.
The NY Times person probably realizes that this war can’t go on forever and that they are losing — and he came to the WH rather than Trump first going to the NY Times. What will the future look like? It’s a bad day for the history of the media, a bad day for honest reporting. We are at a critical moment and will it take 12 years to ratchet everything back or will the media become an official arm of the Democrat party?
The bubble of Trump Derangement Syndrome and Media Bias will have to burst. It will be seen as a boil on the body politic of American politics. The source of this infection is the university and once that is cleaned out of Marxist toxins America can heal. The battle of Trump and the media is part of the cultural war and to win that war you have to deal a blow to the heart (from which everything passes) — the American universities.
How many of Trump’s primary opponents, will side with the NYT ??

I do not think that the NYT knows the difference between journalism and propaganda. Is he aware that Trump's attacks are on the corrupt news media, the propagandists with their unrelenting and false attacks on the President?
The NYT and other MSM are all pretending that Trump's attacks are against responsible journalism. They are NOT!
President Trump and millions of Americans are sick and tired of the constant drumbeat of negative news, the focusing on something no one cares about instead of reporting objectively, reporting on news of interest to the people (like the economy, jobs, crime rate, e.g.).
Maybe the NYT can observe and learn what successful news agencies, do -- report and let the reader decide.
Right now the MSM should be criminally liable for the garbage and propaganda they report and claim as "objective" news. Are there any competent and responsible journalism schools anywhere in the USA? Or, are all of them infected by the Trump Derangement Syndrome?
What are they going to do when their base of Trump Haters further melts away?

I think Trump has a lot of confidence in the power of his personal persuasion skills.
Meeting with them personally in the Oval office he is setting himself up as being on the psychological “higher moral ground”. He is doing this by the using political optics of “going the extra mile” with the one-on-one meeting and applying the psychology of the mystique of the “Oval Office”. This way if they balk (Which they will! They have to or they’ll stop being the Rat house organ!) he had the psychological\ political optics advantage.

I’ve gone online to read several versions of this story. What I’ve noticed is that none of the MSM sources allow comments.
