That’s what I was wondering... just getting out of committee doesn’t make it a “law” or do anything requiring a change in policy... unless I’m missing something.

I’m not surprised by Roby but I am absolutely shocked by my Representative, Robert Aderholt. Aderholt has always been a principled, reliable conservative. Or, so I thought.
I’m learning that you can’t trust any of them. I guess Aderholt has been in the District of Corruption for too long (21 years).
We better clarify that point. I guess I assumed Roby was guilty. We can't really know who voted which way, but we can know that they are most all cowards and hiding under their beds after this vote.
This has gotten very little media attention, AFAIK, and I haven't noticed any coming forward to say how they voted and why.

This is a redefinition that any prospective immigrant in the world could drive a truck through - using totally subjective and unverifiable criteria to not only get into the country, but to get in with the highest legal status (asylum) to receive full welfare benefits.
It would be a disaster to write such criteria into law.
A billion people could come make the claim, and be entitled to full welfare. They could probably bring their spouses and children as well.
No bill becomes a law until it passes both House & Senate and then signed by POTUS. However the POTUS part can be over-ridden by 2/3 of Congress.
Yes, expect 400 million from India and 400 million from China, to claim domestic violence or gang activity and receive green cards in US, with full welfare benefits.
I hope this committee action makes the talk radio circuit this week and maybe some of the hosts will flush out what other Republicans on the committee have to say.
This is really despicable to try and undermine Trump and his tougher asylum policies in such a cowardly, unaccountable way as a committee voice vote.
