ICE officers sent a cease-and-desist letter Monday to the mayor in Portland, Oregon, demanding he apologize for ordering city police to stand down as protesters ravaged the immigration agencys headquarters and menaced its employees.
Agency employees say they were harassed, followed and had their personal vehicles damaged when protesters tried to block them from leaving. They say Portland police refused to respond, under orders from Mayor Ted Wheeler, who said he backed the protesters over the feds.
With police on the sidelines the Occupy ICE protesters shut down U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcements building on Macadam Avenue for a week in June and manned an encampment to continue harassing employees for more than a month.
When the mayor gave the order that police would not support ICE employees trapped in the facility, he turned the lives of our employees over to an angry mob, said Chris Crane, president of the National ICE Council, which had its lawyer send the cease-and-desist letter. The mayor stated publicly that he supported the protests, which were supposed to be about protecting immigrant families, but what about the moms and dads that we had working in that building? What about their kids? These are questions that well be expecting the mayor and city of Portland to be answering in the days to come.
Portlands protests were the most violent of a series of nationwide outbursts against ICE, fueled by anger at President Trumps get-tough border policies.
The situation quickly spiraled out of hand, growing from a small group of protests into a massive occupy encampment that shut down ICEs rented building from June 20 through June 28, when federal police finally gathered enough manpower to retake control. The encampment continued for weeks afterward.

Exactly, those employees need to Open Carry since the Mayor and Police failed to protect. If I worked at that Portland office I would Open Carry 24 / 7 everywhere I went and advise any LEO to speak to the Mayor if they have an issue.
Phoenix, AZ - 6th largest city
We could ask Phoenix's chief to do it, lol.
If you would like more information about what's happening in Oregon, please FReepmail me.
Well, I'm sure he would but, he probably doesn't speak English...
Wow....is that scary or what......
Thanks Salvation, shoulda pinged you. :^)
Thanks, but I usually catch them.
The left supports illegals over our own citizens. That is not just a campaign slogan it is a fact.
I don’t understand why the left gets away with everything. When the protestors would not leave government property on day one and local law enforcement was unable or unwilling to remove/arrest/stop the situation- Troops should have been moved in to secure the area. Whatever it takes in a situation like this. Each time the left gets away with this type of thing they go further the next time.
Unbelievable, the left is allowed to shut down streets, highways, even Interstates- allowed to be violent and even get out of control at federal law enforcement offices. This should not be happening, why is this allowed?
“...the Occupy ICE protesters shut down U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcements building on Macadam Avenue for a week in June and manned an encampment to continue harassing employees for more than a month.”
Keywords: MORE THAN A MONTH!
Everyone take note for when TSHTF.
The federal bureaucracy doesn’t have the manpower to send out the cavalry and reinforce the besieged ICE bureaucrats.
This real, live scenario contradicts all commicbook readers here on FR who insist that the federal bureaucrats can call out drone strikes, United States Marines, KC-130 gunships, battleship bombardments, and a secret division of Rambos to take down all armed Americans.
And these weenie SJW snowflakes in Portland weren’t even armed.
Solutions to Portland’s Marxist leadership.
Federalize the police, and their National Guard if necessary on the grounds that law enforcement has broken down in Portland and it is necessary to protect federal offices and officials there. Declare “marshal law” if necessary to get the place under federal control.
Arm all ICE officials and officers with shoot to kill authorization.
Have the FBI, ICE, and State Police (plus federalized Portland police), start rounding up all known rioters, seize their papers (of organizations), start federal grand juries to look into the rioting, rioters for federal crimes, and into the mayor and his staff/policies re failure to protect federal employees, their offices and interfering in their ability to carry out federal policies and orders.
This should put Mayor ahole in jail for a long, long time, clean up the police force leadership, and get the reds off the streets and in jail.
Cut off all federal aid to any Portland governmental office who refuses to cooperate with the US Govt. Not one fucking cent. Let their drug addicts die or pay for it themselves.
Let the illegals pay for their own bail and lawyers. Put a federal high bail on any arrested protestor where there is sufficient evidence of them committing a federal crime.
Send in a team of federal junkyard dog prosecutors to clean up the place once and for all.
And if these doesn’t work, put the whole damned city under a federal trusteeship until hell freezes over.
If they want to play hardball, we’ll bring more bats than they’ve ever seen in their life time and we’ll be “swinging for the fences”.
#15. Oh shit, not another one. With one exception, I haven’t see a woman COP, white or black, in a leftist city, worth a damn. And that applies to a lot of white and black male COP in major leftist cities either (Hongisto, Miller, the clown family from Minneapolis, in Houston, San. Fran, etc).
Half black woman lesbian and does not know shiite from Shinola, also unable to have an opinion of her own.
Why, yes, it certainly will.
This is "Pretense-of-Law". It does not end with any real solution from the judicial system. It ends with the side that can marshal violence more effectively than the other side.
I would bet on the Feds for this one. But maybe not the next one.
Plan accordingly.
