The secret Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani know about the Russia probe
cnn ^ | July 31. 2018 | Chris Cillizza

The biggest misconception surrounding the special counsel probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election is that it will likely end in some sort of legal proceeding involving President Donald Trump. It won't -- for a bunch of reasons, the most important of which is that Robert Mueller, who is running the investigation, doesn't seem to believe a sitting President can be indicted.

The much more likely outcome is that Mueller releases the findings from his investigation sometime this fall — and lets the chips, as they relate to Trump, fall where they may. Which means — and this is what Trump and his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani have understood for months — that, ultimately, this isn't a legal fight, it's a public relations one.

Giuliani tipped his hand on that strategy Monday in an interview with CNN's Alisyn Camerota. "I'll be here with my version of the report and they'll have their version of the report and the American people, in that sense, are going to decide it," Giuliani said of the Mueller investigation.

"My version" vs. "their version." What that construct from Giuliani misses, of course, is that one of the "versions" will be the result of a Justice Department-commissioned investigation led by the former head of the FBI that has already spanned more than a year. The other "version" will be Giuliani's cable TV appearances and President Trump's tweets.

That is, on its face, an apples-and-oranges comparison. But remember what Giuliani and Trump know: The debate over whether and how much Trump did wrong (if anything) is almost certain to be decided in the court of public opinion, not an actual court. And in the court of public opinion -- particularly given the fealty that rank-and-file Republicans have shown (and continue to show) to Trump, the comparison...

If Mueller were honest he would wrap it up and move along. But because he’s political, he will use this “investigation” for Left Wing anti-Trump activism and force a public relations debate in his attempt to harm the President and this country.

Gee, let's see. An investigation into something that is not a crime, started with no evidence a crime had occurred. An investigation trigger by a president lawfully exercising his Consitutionally-mandated powers, and headed by a former FBI head with a long trail of deception and abuse of power.

Yeah, I like the odds of Trump coming out ahead in that fight.

“for a bunch of reasons, the most important of which is that ...”

...the goal is only to provide a narrative to serve as a figleaf for impeachment on strictly political grounds.

this is the LW/liberal narrative moving towards the November midterms- regardless of whether or not President Trump was “guilty” of collusion, Mule-er (purposely misspelled) was never going to indict a President...

The investigations will continue as long as possible as it provided cover for DOJ stonewalling.

So they are saying their plan is to release vague innuendo to interfere with the election. The same thing they have been doing.

If Mueller were honest, he would have found the real anthrax terrorists (instead of excluding all Muslim suspects as he did), and never have taken this job but instead fought against the very existence of this “special counsel”.

There will be an interim report this October, intended to affect the elections.

The final report will be released in October 2020.

If Mueller was an honorable man, he would have, when asked to be the Special Counsel, “there was no crime here, therefore, I decline to be part of what looks like a partisan witch hunt.”

1. Mueller has nothing, and will try to denigrate every Republican he can, just prior to the mid-terms. Meanwhile FaceBook will claim that people on it’s forum are trying to influence the election. The Leftists will believe what FaceBook tells them, and never conceptualize that Mueller was doing something exponentially worse using a position of power.

2. CNN is trying to spin a Trump clean bill of health, as a negative. Mueller was just too decent to try to unseat a sitting president. Trump really deserved it, but Mueller was just to nice a man, a true professional.

3. Lost in all this will be, that doing everything humanly possible, not one person will be charged with anything related to collusion with Russia. Not charging others and offering them immunity, could get folks to testify to something that didn’t happen.

4. Mueller is a political operative and nothing more. He has pulled criminal level actions here. He knows Trump is innocent of all charges, and will refuse to exonerate him cleanly.

5. Mueller knows where the foundation materials originated. Having this knowledge and not acknowledging it in public and going after the criminals that devised it, Mueller became their accomplice.

6. Using these materials to get court subpoenas, was a criminal act. While Mueller uses a mignifying glass to look up Trump’s rectum to find collusion, he knows he himself (Mueller) is a criminal.

The deep state has been trying to "Nixonize" this issue from the beginning. They even have now conjured up secret recordings and soon will come up with mysterious gaps.

There is no crime, never was. Every country, corporation and lobby group has been trying to influence US elections for generations, the communists for more than a century now.

The mueller probe has been creating scenarios where they can construct a crime via the investigation process.

The most obvious attempt is obstruction of justice. They have been flying that trial balloon for almost the whole time they have been conducting this witch hunt using the media as their jury.

"...the goal is only to provide a narrative to serve as a figleaf for impeachment on strictly political grounds."

Good observation. Rules from the criminal justice system regarding evidence do not apply in impeachment.

Yes, and it’s bitter disappointment for CNN. The tall tales they told just won’t stick.

Maybe it’s time to call in the dynamic duo, Carl Bernstein and Woodward!

In Watergate, Nixon was taken down by the Deep State. But contrary the fable, this was not “investigative journalism”, and Wood/Bern were no heroes. They simply recorded the talking points of one person: Mark Felt.

The whole narrative (they shamelessly promoted for their own wealth the prestige) that partisan, obsequious Leftist journalists are “doing good in the World” was Fake News.

They ended up doing more destruction that good.

But in Spygate, the people are going to win and a several high-level FBI officials are going to jail.
