Trumpka is clearly and correctly worried about throngs of rank and file abandoning the union label in a way up jobs marker.

The rank and file still remember the paucity of jobs during the Obama administration, and are seeing their family fortunes and well being increase during the early part of the first Trump administration.

Trumpka's primary responsibility -- a responsibility far above all others -- is not the union workers, it's the preservation of the union.
