Remember the GoodE Old Days when one of those rowhouses went up like a tinderbox and made Mrs O’Learys cow (Chicago) look like a minor event.

As it was, the most fortunate part of the fiasco was RIZZO had just been defeated by GoodE..had he still been mayor, am sure the rest of Philly would have made the Watts riots look like a day in the park.

The MOVE incident, including the fire, happened in May of 1985. At that time, Wilson Goode was mayor, but his predecessor was Bill Green, whom Goode defeated in 1983.

Frank Rizzo's last day as Mayor was January 7th, 1980.

Mea Culpa (with deep bows)

Ok...I was ‘mixing’ things up.

Rizzo Refuses to Concede to Mayor Goode
November 05, 1987|From the Associated Press
Democrats on Wednesday celebrated their victories in off-year governors’ elections in Kentucky and Mississippi and started planning their new administrations, while GOP challenger Frank L. Rizzo defiantly refused to concede defeat to incumbent W. Wilson Goode in Philadelphia’s bitter mayoral race.

(Guess the Philadelphians figured Rizzo would ‘finish the job’ that GoodE started<: <: <:)

First thing to go is the ‘memory’....

Did Rizzo go from Police Supt to Mayor?... I ‘forgot’ the ‘gap’ from 80-83 and hadn’t Rizzo vowed to ‘clean up’ the MOVE movement earlier?

Don’t live there but NO excuse for ‘mistake’ on my part.

Where’s Frank, now that Philly needs him. Yes, Philly needs a miracle.
