“If, somehow, they [my guns] managed to get confiscated and I am left free and alive....”

Your guns must be registered before they can be confiscated, unless the po-po are bent on searching every home in America (they can’t; it’s too gigantic a task). There is already widespread noncompliance with registration laws in blue states, so nationwide Australian style registration followed by confiscation of whatever the government says you shouldn’t own, isn’t going to happen.

I panicked when it was predicted that Hillary would win and did tons of research on the subject of confiscation and concluded that it is both Constitutionally and logistically as well as tactically impossible.

This isn’t Europe, either before or after WWII. Remember the Warsaw Ghetto uprising and what Jews determined to resist the Nazis were able to do with only a handful of weapons.

The Left is huffing & puffing and threatening, but that’s all they can do. Americans are continuing to arm up and the so-called “Trump slump” in arms sales is fake news.

The horrors of the Third Reich and Stalinist Russia are long dead though we will never forget their victims and yes we will always shout “Never again!”. But such brutal regimes can never be resurrected least of all in these United States where citizens can have guns. But watch out for the new Snitch Laws in some states where anyone can denounce a gun owner to the police, Gestapo style.

Advocates for confiscation can call gun owners “deplorables” and “bitter clingers” and burn up their keyboards but that’s all they can do.

Thank God for the United States of America!

That’s why everyone concerned with the infinite viability of the 2nd Amendment and the liberties that it protects (which is to say, ALL of them), should have at least one firearm that was purchased or acquired for cash and “off paper”- along with ammo, some spare parts and cleaning equipment, and is kept in a secure location OTHER than their home.

A good sign that liberty still lives in the hearts and minds of Americans, even those in the worst of the hive-mind states.

Those laws work both ways. I can think of a hypothetical example in my imagination of some very ticked off relative of a gun owner who was jailed or otherwise abused by the po-po, going to the home of a snitch (or some high-ranking pol or police officer who ordered the jailing/abuse), and dropping several dozen empty (or live) rounds of ammo (carefully handled to avoid fingerprints, of course) from a banned firearm, and then snitching on the offending person (from a burner phone, of course). Turnabout is fair play.

I agree with you that confiscation is unlikely on a national level - it would be, just like 243 years ago, the very spark of revolution...with this revolution being the reclamation of our sacred Republic from the tyrannical statists. They KNOW this, yet keep trying to control/eliminate the legality of firearms - that is how strong their desire for power is, that it causes them to call for something irrational that hurts them in elections.

All I know is that every year the American public buys an additional 15-17 million firearms and many billions of rounds of ammo that are put in storage for “in case,” that many tens of thousands (if not more) of unregistered 80% receivers are converted into operable 100% receivers, and that each year as hundreds of thousands of older gun owners either gift their guns to relatives, or die and leave their guns to those relatives, many hundreds of thousands (or even millions) of guns go off paper.

I LOVE this quote by Lincoln - it is as true now as when he spoke it over 180 years ago:

“At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant to step the ocean and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia, and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth in their military chests; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in the trial of a thousand years.

At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we ourselves must be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”
