urope Doesn't Need U.S. Protection, Most Germans Say
Newsweek via MSN ^ | 7/23/2018 | David Brennan

In the wake of repeated attacks from U.S. President Donald Trump, Germans appear to be souring on the country’s relationship with America. The majority of Germans now believe Europe can defend itself without the help of the American military, a Forsa survey has found.

As reported by Reuters, only 37 percent of 1,004 Germans surveyed now think the continent needs help from the U.S. to defend its borders. There was little difference between the former eastern and western parts of the country, at 60 and 55 percent respectively. Western Germans have closer historical ties with Washington on account of the division of the country after World War II and during the Cold War.

During his visit to the NATO summit in Brussels earlier this month, Trump repeatedly attacked America’s allies for spending too little on the defense of Europe. The president reserved particular criticism for Germany, which he claimed is now “totally controlled by Russia.”

Trump was focused on the Nord Stream 2 project, an $11 billion expansion of the existing Nord Stream natural gas pipeline funded by the Kremlin-backed Gazprom company and five European nations. The president said this development was “inappropriate.”

“Ultimately, Germany will have almost 70 percent of their country controlled by Russia with natural gas,” he claimed, suggesting this would leave Germany “totally controlled by Russia.”

Around 84 percent of Germans asked about this exchange believed Trump’s stance was “completely absurd.” Ninety-two percent said they thought Trump’s motivation for the attack was most likely linked to his desire to sell more American natural gas to Europe. Two thirds remain in support of the project, which will double Russia’s capacity to deliver natural gas to Germany to almost 250 billion square feet per year. The extended pipeline is expected to become operational by the end of 2019.

Other than one base being left open (namely Wiesbaden) for forward deployment purposes, we should shut down everything else and either locate within Poland or bring all back home.

“Of course it’s much easier to say that now that there are other countries between them and Russia.”

Despite all of the hysteria in the media about the Russians, the odds the Russians are going to invade Germany and the rest of eastern Europe are zero. Putin has enough problems inside Russia itself. If Russia invades any country it will be Ukraine which was part of the Soviet Union and acts as a buffer between the Russia and western Europe.

The Germans have sealed their fate. They have allowed people from the Middle East and Africa to settle in the homeland and they are now rooted in place in enough numbers to become the majority within a generation. By 2050/2060 Germany, France, and the UK will be Islamic countries, possibly under a radical Islamic caliphate stretching across Turkey and through the Middle East. Why should the US public be borrowing (or printing) dollars to pay for the defense of nations against no threat (Russia) and the unavoidable demographic destiny those we are defending have chosen?

George Washington in his farewell address warned the new nation against foreign entanglements and specifically about getting involved in the affairs of Europe which has been in a perpetual state of war for hundreds of years. Washington and the founders knew the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans protected the United States from invasion as long as the country maintained a strong navy and militia (2nd Amendment). The founders believed in a neutral foreign policy and free trade with all nations. By free trade they did not mean zero tariffs, in fact they imposed high tariffs on imports. To the founders free trade meant American merchants could trade with merchants in any nation. The federal government would not restrict the movement of goods.

We are not defending our own borders against the migration of millions of people into our nation. If we aren’t going to defend our own nation, why should we have troops scattered across the world meddling in the affairs of other nations and paying for the defense of “allies” who frequently condemn us and won’t fund their own defense? Bring the troops home and post them along the southern border if Congress won’t fund a wall.

Our troops in Krautville should be shipped to our southern border ASAP. We actually need them there.

The Euros can set up their own defense pact.

Nah, just turn the NATO operation over to the Europeans and assume emeritus status.

This would give the EU the standing army they always wanted and allow the United States to focus its attention on bilateral relations with countries like Russia and China.

>>Great Make America Greater Again by redirecting the 700 billion NATO funding towards another project in America!<<

I know a wall that needs some attention.

Yep. Poland said they would build Ramstein AFB 2 in Upper Silesia or Pomerania for us.

These Germans better understand that there won’t be a “Berlin Gaslift” by the USA.

I wonder if other Europeans share the dream of being at Germany’s mercy again. US forces not only protect Europe from Russia, but Europeans from each other. US benefits by not being dragged into yet another European holocaust.

We need to get out of the ME, too. Let it burn.
And if they try anything like 9/11 ever again, make the burn radioactive.

Germany left on it’s own can not be trusted. Maybe that should have been the question?

NATO is lost.

2-4% GDP from each nation to help for defense. THATS WHAT WE ALL AGREED TO.

Screw anybody that wants Americans to flip the bill in $$$ and children and grand children to defend the self made shitholes that the natives will not defend themselves.

Got the t-shirt.

Delta-21, 1/11 ACR. "BLACKHORSE"

The locals up close to the 1K zone were really good people. They treated us soldiers literally every chance they got.

A weekend away in Frankfurt or any of the big cities away from the border would leave you wondering how/why all the assholes in the country live in the big city and the those grounded in reality woke up to an iron curtain running through the landscape of their lives everyday.
