Officials in Portland, Ore., are worried the far-right rally planned for this weekend could turn into “another Charlottesville.”
Fears of violent protests in the area are rising ahead of the rally scheduled on Saturday by Patriot Prayer, a conservative group founded by far-right Senate candidate Joey Gibson.
In a “Hate Watch” report, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) warned “threats of violence” are looming over the upcoming rally, which it suggested could be “another Charlottesville.”
The report comes days after Gibson said in a Facebook post last week that the “Freedom March” rally would be held at a location that could allow attendees to carry handguns.
The newly scheduled location of the event would reportedly allow Patriot Prayer to carry guns, The Oregonian reported. Portland prohibits weapons in parks, but guns carried by those with a valid Oregon concealed handgun license are allowed, according to the newspaper.
The rally on Saturday will come only about a month after members of the conservative group and self-described anti-fascist counter-protesters clashed in Portland in what police described as a riot.
The Patriot Prayer group reportedly had a permit for their rally, but police revoked the permit after the riot began.
A number of groups have reportedly indicated that they plan to counter protest the Patriot Prayer rally this Saturday and evoked Charlottesville.
One group, Rose City Antifa, said: “We will continue to stand by our policy of no-platforming to prevent fascist and white supremacist from organizing in our community.”
Liberals show up dressed like Nazi and Klan members with misspelled signs shouting obnoxious comments.

The Huffington Post likes to call these "pranks". They're not. They're disinformation campaign meant to make Republicans and Conservatives look like racists. If they get caught, well, it was all in fun.
If you go to these events, get video and photos of these people. Do your own interviews. Go up to them, ask them questions like you believe in their cause, be friendly, act like you support them. Then call them out as provocateurs (don't do this alone. Have a couple buddies with you). Post the videos on youtube exposing them:

The proper way to go, politically, is a specifically non-violent approach, Gandhi-ism, that invites the other side to make martyrs of the participants.
Martyrs are precious for many reasons, not least as rhetorical tools. It takes a great deal of discipline and a willingness to personal sacrifice, but it is the best way in circumstances such as this. This has nothing to do with the rightness or wrongness of the cause, it is simply human nature.
A murder leaving a victim to bury, with a massive procession, would be best.

The so-called 'civil rights' movement was choreographed to the smallest detail.
People had to dress nicely in similar 'uniforms'.
Every sign was either pre-made or had to be approved.
They were told not to fight back so they would look like the victims.
They understood it would be a public war fought with images.
The organizers of these events aren't 'keeping the troops in line' and weeding out the provocateurs.
I expect nothing more than a public relations nightmare for the right just like Charlottesville.
This would be a *great* opportunity for President Trump to assert his authority, by sending in a herd of *reliable* federal officers.

While the federal judges for the District Court of Oregon lean Democrat, maybe one of them would be reliable enough to enforce the law, and put rioters in prison for the full five years in a way that could survive the 9th Circuit.
