Iranian agents Barack Hussein Obama and Valerie Jarrett deeply-saddened.

one good thing that the iran deal did, and it was accidental; it reintegrated, to some degree (that turned out to be a damaging degree), the iranian economy into the world economy.

the sanctions are an existential threat now, whereas before, their economy, while stagnant and anemic, was somewhat insulated from the shock of economic sanctions.

score an accidental touchdown for the iran deal.

No re-invite is needed, the fuse got lit by the first invite. Maybe I'm slow on the uptake, but I think DJT threw it out there for the Iranian masses, not the mullahs. Then the mullahs crapped on that hope for the Iranian people to have something like a dialogue and an end to sanctions and threat of war by saying "no". Brilliant move by DJT.

My concern is if the Iranian government ends at the end of a rope, who steps into the vacuum? Russia or China is better positioned to take the advantage than we are.

“Maybe if the Mullahs had some business background...”

Which is kind of interesting, since the mullahs, their families and friends control a large part of Iran’s economy.

Well, if you noticed the recent ‘begging’ of the EU structure....to pass them several hundred million Euro as part of a loan because of the banking crisis...they cited the need for ‘citizens’ to have Euro as they travel to Europe (saying Iranian didn’t have credit cards).

I suspect most of the cash loan they were expecting...would go straight to the mullah families and friends....not the general public. All of it would be shuffled off to Dubai or Qatar to buy property and sit on it while waiting for the bank collapse.

“I would bet there are a lot of Iranians meeting with Trump administration officials in Europe - maybe even here
Just not the mad mullahs and radicals

And US intel sharing on the size and location of bank accounts amassed by
the corrupt mullahs and their vichy govt.

Only those blinded by TDS would argue with you.

” but I think DJT threw it out there for the Iranian masses, not the mullahs.”

I hope not. The Iranian people don’t want anyone to offer a dialogue & possible lifeline to the regime.

“Heshmat Alavi...he works for MEK”

It sure looks to me like MEK is getting some support to (help) overthrow the Mullahs.

My betting is that the USA, Saudi Arabia and Israel are coordinating on a joint regime change strategy to take out the mullahs, and covert activity by intelligence services would be part of that. MEK could be a mechanism for those kinds of operations.

Our ace in the hole with Iran is that they have the most pro-American population in the region, except for Israel. If they are allowed to choose in elections, whatever they pick would be light years better for us than the mullah regime - arguably the most overtly anti-American on Earth.

Beyond that, if I am correct that the USA, Saudi Arabia, and possibly others are collaborating on a Combined effort to engineer regime change in Iran, then there is no way that a replacement is not part of the plan. Whether the plan works is another story, but people should be working it.

“...start to see more riots by summer of 2019”

We may not have to wait. They are several hours ahead of the US, and it is already a big night for protests. Just saw a clip of one from Tehran, were they were chanting Mot! Mot! (Death! Death!) Basiji, and another (smaller) in Tehran chanting “DEATH TO THE DICTATOR”.

Police motorcycles were burning, and the home a local Basiji commander was attacked. On any given night, the Basiji might break and run, and a mob might lynch the Dear Leader. The regime could crack quickly, when the cracking comes.

Just like back in January, the chanting is strongly anti-regime. There have been a number of significant protests about economic themes, but there has also been a lot of fiery anti-regime rhetoric, for which they could be hung.

what matters “the exchange rate” when there is nothing to exchange it for, and even fewer things anyone sells in exchange for that iranian money.

“official” rates are only a tiny part of the whats happening

Dubai is NOT undergoing rapid expansion—it’s shrinking. Your info is bad.

I’ve been through Dubai twice in the past two years...everywhere you look, it’s massive construction. Condo sales is an ongoing thing.

How could a group (MEK) despised by both sides (the regime & the Iranian people) be involved without alienating or worse, causing the civilians to side with the regime against MEK? What will that do? Cause a civil war? The result would be the Iranian civilians despising the US for causing it.

It’s not getting support from inside Iran, despite what the MEK propaganda would like everyone to believe. They are seen by the people as traitors

“How could a group (MEK) despised by both sides (the regime & the Iranian people) be involved without alienating (the population)”

Opinions vary on MEK. They do have baggage.

The very fact that they have received long and hard bashing in the State media (and sacrificed lives) gives them some opposition credibility. Also, they come into this phase with a newly cleaned up image - moderate new campaign platform, and a glossy new media operation (both of which indicate intelligence service support to me). There has been a significant re-branding effort.

MEK is throughout the country, and has a good number of people willing to pull triggers. If you are going to adopt an “all of the above” strategy to take out the Mullahs, it is hard to overlook their potential, or find a comparable alternative. As a casual armchair observer, it seems that they have been selected to play a big role. If that is the case, then professionals have assessed their current, real political acceptability to the population.

After 100,000 hangings, and impoverishing the Nation, people will probably just despise the regime more.

Dubai has had a decades long boom, but a hard couple of most recent quarters.
