President Trump's public approval numbers have hit 50% among likely voters, according to a new Rasmussen poll, which is good news for midterms. And who should be pushing those ratings to el norte?
No kidding: Hispanic voters.
You know, the ones who are supposed to hate Trump with a passion. After all, doesn't the press dutifully report that Trump is an enemy of illegals, and aren't illegals in the same conventional wisdom simply synonymous with Hispanics, and with Hispanics and illegals all the same thing, isn't it all just proof that Trump is racist?
Here's what the Washington Times, now featured on Drudge, had to say:
Are Hispanics shifting their allegiances to President Trump?
A recent Harvard/Harris poll recorded a 10-point spike in Hispanic support for Mr. Trump. It hasn't received much attention from the mainstream media, which is heavily invested in its portrait of the president as an unrepentant and unpopular "nativist."
Coming in the midst of the nationwide controversy over children and families at the U.S.-Mexico border, it suggests that Hispanics may not be the entrenched liberal voting constituency that Democrats so often imagine.
This makes me say "whoa." Because ever since 2008, when I attended the Democratic Party's convention in Denver as a reporter, I've sat through Democratic caucuses and listened closely to how Democrats have staked large amounts of the party's fortunes and resources on controlling the Hispanic vote, with visions of controlling it permanently

I am guessing that is on RedStateWatcher because it got pulled down by YouTube.
DJT is giving Hispanics something other than Republican cuckoldry (McConnell, Ryan, etc) to vote for and it’s working. That and jobs.

My wife and I went to see "2016: Obama's America". It didn't do much for me, because I already knew most of what was in it. However, for my wife, who is not the political junkie I am, it was eye opening. Maybe I'll take her to the new one.
You can be sure that at the RNC 2020 convention Trump will be bringing up many Black and Hispanic ordinary Americans to tell their stories of how they went from believing all the media lies about him to becoming firm supporters based on how he’s helped them improve their lives.
Trump at 29% approval by the black community means the Democrat hold over the black community is no more. The Democrats have screwed over the blacks, and taken their association for granted for too many years.
The Democrats have lost the black voters, and are losing the brown vote as well. The only thing preventing a win for America this coming November is the understanding by those inclined to vote for Trump that they need to get out on that date, and do so.
One thing to keep in mind is that support for Trump doesn’t necessarily mean support for Republicans. Many like Trump because he isn’t like other Pubs. Of course that could change, just like FDR flipped blacks to the Democrat party.

These Mid-terms should be interesting, squishy never Trumpers may get kicked to the curb
I am like Sean Hannity, I am a Conservative... I do NOT support RINOS or squishy Republicans
Ok the slightest hint of fatigue at all the winning. :)
Buck up, brother!
Some 10+ years ago I lived in El Paso for a year, and can vouch for that “true fact”.
Does this mean we’re due for another manufactured outrage next week?
It would make sense to me that someone who came here the right way to get away from, say, MS13, wouldn’t exactly want to find MS13 back at his or her elbow.
Why why why can’t Democrats see this? Their “liberality” is as tunnel visioned as hell.
They've got a problem under any circumstance, but if they lose a significant slice of the black vote and can't replace them with Hispanics, they will be facing an existential threat...not that I'm against it or nothing :)
Traditionally they have been getting 90% plus from Blacks at the polls.
If this 29% support does appear at the polls, this means the Democrats will have lost 20% of their Black support.
They can’t win anything with those numbers.
If Hispanics are headed the same way, the Left is in a serious world of hurt.
We agree here.
I’m expecting a school- or other-children-gathering mass shooting soon.
‘Hispanics’
Hispanics don’t call themselves that name, at least judging from my friends here in SoCal.
‘Latino’ is their preference. Or they call themselves “brownies” when they are contrasting themselves with “whities”, “güeras”.
Sometimes they just refer to me as “you people”, as in “you people follow rules and stuff” in contrast to normal brownie behavior. Un mas cerveza, por favor, brownie.
there is more freedom and advantages in having you own job than ANYTHING the leftists promise them
There’s a streak in Mexican culture that admires a strong man, a jefe (that’s ‘hef-ay’, for all the gabachos).
And they see a jefe bigtime in Donald Trump.
In contrast they have contempt for Republican hacks who suck up to them.
One of my friends (legal) has very close family who are illegals. He doesn’t get angry when one of them gets booted back across the border. It’s a risk they take. If anything he thinks we are fools for not enforcing our own laws.
The Democrats do see it. They don’t care. They just want more brown people/fewer white people. They think (probably correctly in the end) that the demographic change will mean eternal power for them. In the meantime they can cry “racism” along the way. That Trump can peel away a few votes is encouraging, but it won’t change their plan.
Thanks for the laugh. I spend a lot of time in Puerto Rico not big fans of Mexicans down there but not following rules spot on and uno mas cerveza definitely. Little bit of culture shock from FL where they will bust you on any beach for an open container to PR where it is if you got em drink em up chillin in the surf sippin a brew.
