Though seniors hiding assets is still an issue, too. And one that WILL have to be addressed.

In expanded Medicaid states, there is no longer an asset test to get medicaid. They still have to worry about estate recovery if they pass away with big medical bills after 55.

NYS has income and asset tests for Medicaid. I’ve never heard of the state attempting recovery from the estate of someone who went on after age 65. I’m not opposed to it, however.
