Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon, Mr. Trump tweeted late Friday night. He made Lebron look smart, which isnt easy to do. I like Mike!
Mike was an apparent reference to retired NBA legend Michael Jordan.
In an interview with Mr. Lemon on CNN, Mr. James said he feels that the president is using sports to kinda divide us.

All of this “sports stuff” is downright silly. Just think how every year people pay their hard earned money to watch these overpaid men and women bounce a ball, throw a ball, swat at a ball, kick a ball, catch a ball . . . . . . . not to mention the over-priced sports paraphernalia that people even steal and kill for. I come from a family with an excellent athlete in it. I think he would even admit things are out of hand. . . .not to mention the poor role models for kids. Getting rid of collegiate athletics, professional athletics would be a good start to sanity IMHO.
Yep, and it went on all during the 2016 regular NFL season, and during the presidential campaign. Then it resumed for several games into the 2017 NFL season before President Trump said anything about the kneeling.
Somebody needs to tell Lebron and Lemonhead that the NFL kneelers were dividing the country and driving fans away a full season and part of another before Trump weighed in on the controversy.
And Lebron is gonna due for the NBA what Kaepernick did for the NFL. If the NBA owners and execs are smart, they'll shut him up before the next season begins in late September. But, they're probably as dumb about this as the NFL owners and execs.
I wish everyone would just stfu.
Obama was the great divider.
(Quote-And Lebron is gonna due for the NBA what Kaepernick did for the NFL. If the NBA owners and execs are smart, they’ll shut him up before the next season begins in late September. But, they’re probably as dumb about this as the NFL owners and execs.)
The NFL and NBA are two different beasts.
NBA doesnt try to wrap itself in the flag, etc..
The NFL tried to peddle fake patriotism and then got caught when one of those on their plantation started acting out being ‘unpatriotic’.
And let it continue because they(the NFL) started with a fake patriotism to start with.
All made for TV schtick to placate the masses of Americans who love football and country.
The NFL loves football. They were shown not to really love the country. They tried to sell the idea they did.
And have paid the price.
Something the NBA never got caught doing.
Again, NBA is not going to fail where the NFL did because the NFL is seen to have’betrayed’ its fans while the NBAfans know who/what the NBA is..
So far, the NBA players (and coaches) have thrown their rhetoric around away from the actual games. If they elect to start expressing their complaints at game time, (before, during or after) then I think it absolutely will cause a loss of TV audience and probably paid attendance in some cities.
I think the fan dissatisfaction is part due to disrespecting the flag, but also the general complaint of seeing politics dragged into sports no matter the method used to do it. Game time protests disrespect the audience. Fans don't but tickets or turn on their TVs to learn the political views and players and coaches.
I’m from NE Ohio. Welcome to our world. He’s had various nicknames around here, including LeBozo and LeBoob. His opinion of his own intelligence far outstrips reality. So best advice is to enjoy the high moments of having the most freakishly athletic basketball player since Wilt Chamberlain running your team and try to ignore the accompanying ego trip he’s on. At least Wilt kept his indiscretions out of politics and focused on feats on the court and between the sheets.
Yes.
He helped build a school in Cleveland, good for him..but he has the gall to talk about President Trump “Dividing” America when you have NFL players KNEELING for our anthem while they make MILLIONS of dollars throwing a football around..they are the ones dividing America!!! LeBron should have gone to college, but he would have learned to be an America hating ass clown like he is now so going to college would have been pretty useless. He makes MILLIONS of dollars throwing a basketball into a hoop he should be grateful, instead he goes on TV and bashes our President..must eat at his crawl everyday that he campaigned for Hillary Clinton and Ohio still went for Trump
HE LEFT A 3 DOLLAR TIP ON A 300 DOLLAR IN VEGAS!
“Why is it that...the liberals and media...”
I think what frustrates you is the complete lack of rationality on the Left...
The sad part is that the Leftist media is being irrational on purpose in order to sell their false narrative.
They prey on athletes, actors and musicians, who, due to their success, have been thrust into the celebrity spotlight to voice their opinions and thoughts on subjects often well beyond their intellectual capacity.
This is not to say that artists or athletes are intellectually sub par - not at all. It’s just that what earned them their fame was their particular talent, not their grasp of socio-economic culture. What are the odds that a top tier Hollywood actor or a world famous athlete would also be a philosopher worth listening to? It could happen, but there is no reason to assume it.
Yet, famous athletes are brought out in front of huge audiences and asked for their opinions on the social, political and philosophic issues of the day. Their moral judgment is sought regarding “social justice” and “equality”, as if their athletic superiority qualifies them to render judgments on right and wrong.
The fact that these huge audiences listen, and hang on every word, and allow themselves to be morally instructed by “stars” who are often half-baked intellectually, is an indictment of how far we have sunk as a society.
The transfer of wisdom and experience from old to young, teacher to student, through tradition and classical literature, has been all but eclipsed by this Left driven reverence of star actors, singers and athletes who are often young and often so morally adrift that they sound incoherent to educated and non-leftist folk.
The Leftist media is doing this on purpose - they take advantage of the artists and athletes - and use their celebrity to take advantage of the young and the stupid - it’s what they do.
What frustrates me the most, is seeing an actor like Matt Daemon on a late night talk show spouting utter nonsense, but getting treated like he’s a philosopher - it’s sad. I never watch those shows. Never.
I wish I could get everyone to stop watching these shows with celebrity interviews - we should all stop paying attention - at least those of us who can still recognize when some ‘star’ is being given expert status in areas well outside their area of expertise. I would think the lack of ratings would drive such shows out of existence.
But unfortunately, too many people who should know better, even people here on FR, are fascinated by whatever a celebrity has to say, regardless of merit.
There is so much in the media that should be ignored, but isn’t - and the Left benefits greatly.
LOL figures
I heard more about coaches in the NBa spouting off in the media about things Trump, etc, more last year than any other time.
The NBA ratings were apparently up..
The exact opposite of the NFL.
The fact that he added “I like Mike”, shows that Trump is aware that as popular and talented as Lebron James is, he is not beloved by the American people like Jordan or Magic were.
Lebron is all about himself, and he’s been a loudmouth from the get go. He told ESPN 10 years ago that he wanted to dunk on GW Bush and have the backboard glass shatter all over him.
I think it’s great for Trump to call out Black individuals like Lebron and Maxine Waters for criticism, while enacting policies that help ordinary Black folks.
This shows that he doesn’t treat Blacks like fragile little pets who can’t have their feelings hurt, but are too stupid to know that they’re being hoodwinked. Instead, he treats them like everybody else.
Don’t be surprised if Black people start noticing this strange new respect that they’re receiving from the POTUS.
But the mouthing off by NBA players and coaches has not been at the games, but during various interviews away from the games. Not many fans will stop watching if free speech is exercised away from the games, but if they're foolish enough to start protesting before, during, or after the games, I expect we'll see attendance and TV audiences dropping.
And during the last season, the NBA was being mentioned favorably for not protesting during games, as opposed to the NFL. We'll see if they can stick to that.
War Eagle!
You watch the NBA?
They are a never Trump league.
They count on that sort of thing in places like Antifa Portland Oregon.
Or in the state crapital of Kalifornia .. and their best team resides in San Francisco toilet of Oaklnad.
Add LA LA pedolamd land in there and you have the best recipe for being anti Trump and anti whatever and still pulling in $$$$ ...
You can fill a basketball arena in those antifa strongholds with never a Trump supporter paying a dime.
That can’t be said in large football arenas.
You are free to support the NBA, however.
