Trump’s presidency has shown us that what we grew up hearing - ‘In America, any child can grow up and become the President’, is no longer true.

Trump was able to win as an outsider because of a unique combination of his personal skills and tenacity, his personal wealth, and his fame. Despite all those things, the established powers have been relentless in trying to destroy him. They made the big mistake of not believing he could win, or they would have been more vicious before the election.

After his election they have been relentless in trying to neutralize and remove him. I’m fairly certain Trump has used his financial resources to protect himself - independent of what protections and resources his office as President provides him. I’m also fairly certain he has his own private investigatory capacity that helps him to protect himself from the intelligence agencies and Deep State.

That he or anyone else would need those personal resources is a testimony to how much our nation has lost its way.
