A long time ago, one of the most important journalist standards was this: "Never make yourself the story." What does that mean? When reporting, journalists must avoid making themselves a subject of the news or participate actively in any story.
Jim Acosta, of CNN, not only rejects that concept, he doubles-down, and attempts to become the entire focus of story after story. He turns the term "journalist standards" an oxymoron. His boorish and rude behavior at multiple press conferences makes him (probably intentionally) the center of attention.
Witness this small sampling of outbursts:
- In January of 2018, Acosta's behavior towards President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan was so rude and unacceptable, it was noticed by many individuals, including Sundance of Conservative Treehouse.
- Not even the White House Easter Egg Roll (and the children in attendance) are safe from Jim Acosta's oafish behavior. During the Easter Egg Roll, Acosta repeatedly interrupted the festivities, demanding Trump answer questions about DACA.
- In the second week of June of 2018, during a segment when questions were not supposed to be asked, Jim Acosta's bellowed out questions to the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un about the historic meeting between the American and North Korean leaders. His behavior was characterized as annoying and attention-seeking, in which he rudely demanded answers in a setting not intended for press questions. He enjoyed a great deal of backlash for his ill-bred behavior. His response was not to apologize for being out of line, but instead, to defend his unacceptable behavior.
- In a video posted by CNN, Jim Acosta demanded that Sarah Sanders say that the press is not the enemy of the people. Since when does a journalist have the right to demand any person say anything? Furthermore, CNN's own copy on that video states "CNN's Jim Acosta asks White House press secretary Sarah Sanders to respond to Ivanka Trump's comments that the press is not the enemy of the people." Since when is someone required to support the comments someone else made? A suggestion: Perhaps, Mr. Acosta, you could ask Ivanka Trump directly.
- immediately after the above-referenced event, in which Sarah Sanders had to checkmate Jim Acosta, he then bizarrely recommended that journalists march -- like protesters! -- chanting Were Not the Enemy of the People. Let's leave aside for a second that the sentence does not have the meter and cadence required for a good protest chant.... this man actually advised fellow news professionals to become the news, in stark contrast to one of the primary tenets of journalism!
- Then, when protesters heckled him, Jim Acosta said he feared violence from them and April Ryan of CNN actually went so far as to say his life was in danger. News flash to the News Misleadia -- a couple of insults and some harsh language is not violence. Your drama-queen pronouncements are idiotic and meant to make YOU the subject of the news.
Even his fellow professionals at CNN have noticed. Steve Krakauer, a former Producer for CNN news, characterized his conduct as self-serving antics, saying they give all good journalists a bad name.
If his behavior goes unchecked, I expect a show to be unveiled on CNN: "The Jim Acosta Show (All About Jim Acosta) Featuring Jim Acosta". I imagine the credits for that show might read like this:

Yes, the Undead Thread can always use fresh
corpses threads to ride for a few thousand posts. We get rather bored when we get close to 5,000... ;o]

Undead Thread ... veers off the thread topic too much.Well, yes.
So what you do is wait a bit. Sooner or later Acosta's infatuation with Acosta will have run its course as a post enticing topic - most likely because by then Acosta will have done/said some other pomposity that will spawn another thread. Then you let it Undie.. ;-)

Well thank you! I’m a little miffed that the thread didn’t break 100 replies, but oh well.
(Is a little miffed a form of animal? Are there big miffeds?)

A miff
is a form of animal, but they only grow to be so large (like a toy poodle).
A close relative of the little miff is considerably larger and known as a High Dudgeon.
They have been known to mate, but the offspring are sterile.
To: Lazamataz
CNN should just give him a half hour sitcom and get it over with.

Had to read that twice. To me, “Undie” means underwear.

To: Silentgypsy
Usually the word used in reference to underwear is plural - undies. But, due to possible confusion of meaning, for that reason I should have hyphenated it.. ;-)
So the word in question is ‘un-die’.

If you let Obama pronounce it, there’s a good possibility it will sound like what he called the Marines..
