ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Reuters) - Former Trump campaign aide Rick Gates testified on Monday that he stole money from former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who is on trial for tax and bank fraud.

Gates, a former business partner of Manafort’s, also testified that Manafort had asked him to omit information in a court deposition regarding a private equity fund.

Manafort is a political prisoner. He has already served more time (and in isolation) than most who engage in his crimes. He is essentially being tortured now. He should be pardoned.

If Manafort just gets a slap on the wrist, the media will come out with

“Trump’s Campaign Manager Found GUILTY!!!”

Gates talking about foreign 'loans' and offshore shizz gets ever closer and closer to John McCain and Rick Davis.

Manafort's lawyer needs to full-court press Gates to link Manafort<-->Davis/McCain/Ukraine and the quid pro quo that's on the public record, and when Gates lies to preserve McCain, impeach Gates' testimony.

"It gets better. The prosecution asked Gates if he had ever lied under oath before and he said YES."

Thanks...I hadn't seen that. So they're relying on a self-admitted thief, and perjurer.

As a juror, I would not cast my ballot on the words of a liar and a thief, especially one who copped a plea and got immunity from the likes of Mueller.

I doubt that he knowingly did anything wrong. Mueller has a history of locking up innocent people.

I think the circumstances of the lie under oath should be explained. In other words, what was the result of his lying.

Both crimes involving moral turpitude - character issues are the same in theft and perjury.

So Gates and Manafort are tax cheats. What on God’s green Earth does this have to do with Trump? Manafort worked for Trump for 59 days, and Trump was never warned by the FBI was under investigation before he was hired.

So he’s a thief - that’ll make him a credible witness!

I think you need than a co-conspirator especially one who have been granted immunity.

So far all we know is Gates is a liar and a thief. Credible witness? He is going to need some evidence or corroboration.

As a jurror, I hear “I stole money from my boss”, and I think why waste my time with the rest of his testimony?

Very foolish of you. Nobody lies 100% of the time. Loyalties change. Motivations shift. A wise person will listen to everything he says, and the discern which is likely true and which is likely false. Sometimes even a crook will be in a position where telling the truth is better for him.

He’s been prosecuted. He got a plea deal for turning on Manafort. Everyone knows that and the defense will tear him apart on that.

Part of what the Swamp Creatures are doing is trying to taint and preferably destroy everyone connected to President Trump, show them never, ever to get involved in politics with someone threatening to drain the swamp. If it weren’t for that Manafort and Flynn and others wouldn’t have gone thru the hell Mueller & Co. have put them thru.

If Gates embezzled thousands, Gates himself (and likely one of the bookkeepers) had to rig the books which means Manafort did not have the strict oversight of everything as Gates has implied.

One or more of the bookkeepers is lying on the stand. And Gates is lying, too.

Sorry, all these witnesses who have immunity are lying their a**** off.
