InfoWars Ban: CNN, Democrats Successfully Lobby Big Tech to Censor Their Critics
Breitbart ^ | 6 Aug 2018 | Allum Bokhari

Big tech’s coordinated purge of InfoWars — which was hit by bans from Apple, Facebook, Spotify and YouTube in rapid succession — did not occur in a vacuum. On this issue, Silicon Valley bowed to CNN journalists and Democrat politicians who ceaselessly lobbied for the site to be censored. It’s a sign of how the concentration of power in America has shifted from big government to big tech that politicians are now lobbying tech companies rather than the other way round, but that’s exactly what happened over the course of the past few months, as Democrats applied relentless pressure on Facebook and other Silicon Valley giants to censor InfoWars.

Chief among them was Democratic Congressman Ted Deutch (D-FL), who demanded that a Facebook representative “explain” their decision not to ban InfoWars at a House Judiciary Committee hearing on social media censorship last month. Calling Jones as “well-known conspiracy theorist” whose “brand is bullying,” Deutch also demanded Google’s representative explain how many strikes it would take for a channel on Google-owned YouTube to be deleted.

He then asked Google’s representative if they thought conspiracy theories were a “problem,” and asked her to explain the company’s planned solutions. It seems that YouTube has now come up with a solution: ban the channels that Rep. Deutch objects to.

You could start going directly to http://InfoWars,com as a starting point of replacing them.

How long until the ADL and SPLC pressure the registrar to seize the domain and shut his website down?

Before anyone says this can’t happen, look at the Daily Stormer. There’s a reason they picked them first, and Infowars secons.

I don’t want conservative companies; I want capitalist companies.

I want decent products and services at a fair price. I don’t need any company preaching to me or signaling how wonderful they are because they helped save a spotted transgender wombat.

I also don’t like companies where I am the product. It’s not hard to not patronize these companies. They don’t own the internet infrastructure, and they are not invulnerable. Now is a perfect time to figure out a free (as in independent) distributed architecture that can compete against the cloud concept and software as a service. The vulnerabilities are out there. It’s a time of great opportunity.

I get it now.
This ban is a precursor to them eventually trying to ban Q.

Yeah I get that. My post was in amazement of the article.

Does anyone remember being taught in us govt HS classes about “yellow journalism” of the early 20th century?

Isn’t social bs in the same realm? People should be smart enough to filter bs. I don’t want some oligarch’s algorithm to do it for me.

Side note: I can only name a few oligarchs and none of them are Russian. Bezos, Gates, Ellison, zuckerberg, etc. guess who is controlling OUR lives?

These companies do not have their own national and international communications systems. They depend upon AT&T and all the other telecoms of various sizes to transmit and route their data to and from their millions of users. I don’t see how their censorship and restriction of who can use their facilities offered to the public is so different from a situation where the telecoms and owners of the vast communications systems did the same.

I don’t think their grounds for restricting who can use their systems are all that sound. We’ll see as things develop more.

The liberals do not want any alternate voices that tell something other than Official Democrat News(tm) - which of course, is propaganda.

Even if it’s Alex Jones. It’s harder to brainwash the American public if there is any opposition.

Of course, I wear a tinfoil hate from time-to-time.

With the loss of value in facebook, the ethical questions left hanging by the Cambridge Analytics scandal, and heavy leftward bias of their employees, I doubt they had to do much arm-twisting. Even better for them, it was all voluntary. No threats of investigation or other heavy-handed tactics by the government that might raise flags about the First Amendment. A nod, a wink, and a “hey, c’mon” from their party and media allies and it was done.

I know Jones is not liked here but we at FR better rally up here or this site is toast.. Free speech was paid for with a million patriot lives. Shutting him down is total bull shit. Nobody is forced to read it or hear it.. Webstand together or hang seperately.
