I grew up in Jersey City. Forget about kicking the football. Not worth the time or energy.

President Trump remains deeply unpopular; contested congressional races are energizing Democrats; and he has the backing of a Democratic machine that still has enough clout to deliver victory.

Keep singing that song and you'll be crying and yelling at the sky all over again in Novemember

It’s still New Jersey.

after his trial concluded in a hung jury...

The FIX was in from the beginning. Obviously, some of the jurors were “bought”. Hung jury, my ass.

The poll has Melendez up by all of TWO POINTS - which is why the NY Times chose to ignore it. Being 2 points, it is now a TOSS UP...in the margin of error. OBVIOUS pick-up opportunity

As an NJ resident I used to pay attention to polls and would get excited as they would show the republican gaining steam, getting within shooting distance a few months out from election day. Then he'd get crushed. Every time (* governor is the one exception, our governors are always so bad that their successor is always a knee jerk move to the other party). So a toss up poll in NJ, to me, means Menendez wins easily.

Yes, Dems did well in Virginia last, mainly because the Republican candidate last year, Ed Gillespie was a total zero “Never Trumper”. This year, with Republican, Corey Stewart, running, that is not the case.

In Michigan the Republicans will nominate John James, a brillant, vivid “African-American”, ex-military, Trump supporter, to run against “asleep-at-the wheel”, Democrat, Debbie Stabenow.

This is one race the GOP might prefer not to win.

What stupidity from you. Every state has conservatives and statists, with the tip of the scales varying a small bit to make a state red or blue. The bigger your cities, the more likely you are to tilt to the blue. NJ needs a Republican Senator and Trump could use the support.

I see Huggin signs everywhere, not a single Menendez one. These were in Manasquan/Brielle area.

The ‘Rats had a rigged town hall in Jackson for Josh Welle, only questions were asked were ones that were written down on note cards given to supporters to read. And Welle would read the response off that card he had. It is pretty bad when the Democrats have to rig a townhall meeting in New Jersey.

Here we go again. NJ is in play until the votes are tallied and the GOP gets smoked again.

Tell it Chris Christie, when he is not shouting down people on the boardwalk with an ice cream cone in his hand.

I say the only reason we don’t win New Jersey is because we write it off as “un-winable”

Good thing Trump didn’t write off Michigan, Wisconsin or Pennsylvania as “un-winable”

Menendez is vulnerable here. Even his primary wasn’t rosy, he ran against a total unknown and got 6 out of 10 votes, the other guy didn’t even spend a single dollar and nobody knew who he was but he still got 4 out of 10 people to vote for him. Usually candidate like that get like 1 out of 20 votes, if that.

If the voters in the dark blue areas don’t show up in droves and the red areas are motivated, Menendez is done.

I have done voter research in the past. I don’t remember the details, but I do recall being astonished to find that NJ would be the most likely NE Democrat state to go Republican in a presidential election.

The demographics of NJ continue to change in the Dem’s favor. There will be no repeat of a Chris Christie victory.

No, it is not, Murphy was 16 year old to vote now, showing us how the demographics are changing but not the way they want.

All of those Asian and Indian immigrants, are more conservative then they originally appeared. There was a reason why Trump made a stop here and stopped in the area with the highest Indian populations. They get it.

Trades unions are starting to turn as well. Murphy won because of low voter turn out. He has less votes then Christie, who everyone claims was the most hated man in the state. He isn’t, he would have gotten a third term here. We might hate him cause he is a big fat blowhard, but we all like him cause he is us.
