4 Men in a Car With Gun at 2 am Results in Misdemeanor

The Cook County State’s Attorney denied felony charges against any of 4 men, who parked in front of a home with a gun and drugs in a car.

The police were patrolling in the area when the officer observed a strange license plate on the vehicle and decided to follow the car.

The officer pulled behind the car but didn’t activate his lights. When the officer approached the car, he smelled burnt cannabis as the driver rolled down the window. The car had Arizona license plates and the driver produced a title to the car that had not been properly transferred yet.

One of the men allegedly had a bulge in his coat pocket and the police claim that he was holding a clear plastic bag with approximately 12 dime bags inside.

The officer alleged that he saw the butt of a handgun under the driver seat. He reached inside the car to remove a Smith and Wesson handgun with a fully loaded magazine of hollow point rounds with an empty chamber, according to the officer.

Two of the men allegedly provided statements to the police implicating Ingram as the owner of the gun. Ingram denied knowledge of the gun according to the police.

None of the men in the car had a valid FOID Card or a concealed carry license. The police contacted the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office on two occasions that night asking for approval to charge Ingram with a felony gun charge. In both instances, the Cook County State’s Attorney denied the request.

Ingram, a 25 year old black male with a Chicago address, was charged with one count of misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon and a Cook County Ordinance ticket for Possession of Cannabis under 30 grams. The other men were not charged.

Wonder how long before that gun is used by the thugs to add to Chicago’s weekend body count.

Wow. A terribly confused and irrational comment section here on Free Republic.

Bust them for the dope. It’s illegal.

Then shut up about the gun. It’s constitutionality protected. Even for black men with strange license plates at 3 am.

Chicago is a third-world shithole.

What’s so strange about an Arizona license plate?

Nothing in and of itself, but to see one on a car stopped at the side of a street in Chicago in the middle of the night that has four people sitting in it, would raise enough flags for the officer to stop and see what’s going on, even if the original intention was to see if a traveler had gotten lost.
