I know of a particular manufacturing facility in this area where 63% of job applicants are failing the drug test.

If they doubled the starting salary they will get all the non druggie good labor they want. So the trick is to find the correct price point between what they are offering now and double. Sorry if that makes their whittle heads hurt...

A small aside-— I was asked to teach a junior in HS some basic bookkeeping skills-—keep a checkbook register-—know how to read common monthly bills-—know how to read a credit card statement-—a bank statement.

He realizes that he is 2 years away from leaving home & living elsewhere & that HE will have to pay bills himself & he isn’t getting ANY kind of such education in high school.

I sat him down at the dining room table. I got a 10-key calculator with a paper roll for a printed set of numbers from my office.

When I set it on the dining room table-—he asked:

‘WHAT IS THAT? I have never seen anything like that before.’

I told him that was a calculator....

He said-—”I HAVE ONE OF THOSE ON MY PHONE. AND IT IS SMALLER!”

I asked him where he could get the printed tape totals from.

That stopped him.

He is 16— quite bright—and had never seen such a calculator before.

The schools we pay dearly for are failing these kids.
