California Wildfires caused by Federal and State regulators
Forbes ^ | Jul 20,2018 | Chuck DeVore

Posted on 08/08/2018 8:38:06 AM PDT by olepap

As timber harvesting permit fees went up and environmental challenges multiplied, the people who earned a living felling and planting trees looked for other lines of work. The combustible fuel load in the forest predictably soared. No longer were forest management professionals clearing brush and thinning trees

Love having this arguments with tree huggers. They think that ANY thinning or touching of the natural order of forests is bad. Meanwhile, this.

“Meanwhile, this.”

Well, it’s not like anyone predicted this, right? It’s a complete surprise to everyone. After all, the greentards had such good intentions.

Good job Forbes .... now we’ll hear every reason why that’s not true from Global Warming (oops, climate change) to gender neutrality problems in the forest caused by evil Republicans.

Might even get a new politically correct definition of what Fire really is.

saw the exact same thing in south dakota, near mount rushmore when family visited several years ago.
-whole mountains and fields of dead and dying trees, caused by a beetle infestation. the close proximity of the trees, made the infestation by the beetle so easy, and it was pretty much unstoppable. local bookstore showed pictures of what the area looked in 1800’s, and it was sparesely covered by trees, just pockets of them. easy to see why fire, and disease could be limited.
not any more. Thanks Liberals!

Trees, the renewable resource. Use ‘em or loose ‘em.

“...the Sacramento Bee editorial board blamed the Carr Fire foursquare on a man-caused buildup of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere....”

So, CO2 is combustible. I learn something new from the Libs every day.

Carbon MONoxide is very combustible. Carbon Dioxide not at all.

A friend told me a forest ranger said they know the best way to take care of the trees, but ignorant California laws prevent them from doing it.

1) diseased and dead wood need to be removed and 2) tree killing beetle has to be eliminated.

The removal of diseased or dead wood is perhaps the most important step in keeping forests healthy. Diseased trees compete with healthy trees for water, and during a drought this is a huge problem. Diseased and dead trees provide an environment for various insects and bacteria. They take away light so that new seedlings cannot grow, etc. When done properly, limited controlled burns and physical removal of trees are done in an ongoing fashion. A law passed by California has made it illegal in California to remove any trees or any dead or diseased wood from the forests.

The only way to get rid of the tree killing beetle is to spray the forests with the correct pesticide, but it’s against the law to use pesticide on forests in California.

The best way to stop the tree killing Beatles is when an infection is noted, drop the whole stand. The beatles need trees to be standing to get to other trees. Drop the stand and one ring out and you stop the infestation.

Professional loggers and foresters know how to manage our forests, so get the a-hole flat-lander city-slickers the hell out of the process and our forest will be fine.

This crap always starts in The Peoples Republik of Kalifornia where the stupid and intentionally ignorant socialists in the cities have the votes to pass laws that are counterproductive to environments they obviously do not understand.

The stupidity of the left has destroyed the economy of much of the mountain counties of california and are the direct cause of these massive wildfires.

This is just part of the justification of the non city counties of Kalifornia wanting to be a different state. The left keeps trying to include the big cities with the non city counties but this is absolutely NOT WHAT IS NEEDED!!

The cities can exist in their own state. They are not our culture, have no understanding of what is necessary for our success, and really don’t give a damn about anything outside of their socialist beehive kingdoms.

My news for them is that we really don’t give a damn about them either.

I wonder how much water is worth by the drop?

CO2 can’t build up in the atmosphere.

It’s heavier than air. This is why there is phytoplankton, algae, and seaweed. Plants need CO2 to make food.

It’s funny - nobody asks, “Hey, how come there is such a thing as smoke stacks?”

It’s not a style decision by some industrialist. It’s there to prevent the town from being killed by the heavier-than-air byproducts of their manufacturing processes, including CO2.

Every once in a while, some volcanic lake in Africa burps up a bunch of S02 and CO2, and it kills an entire village overnight. They just never wake up?

How could that be if CO2 can accumulate in the atmosphere?

Diabolically stupid people, and arrogant. Public education in this country is so bad, people believe it.

I used to work on ships. By law, there is a kick plate in the door leading into the CO2 room, where all the CO2 bottles that protect the engine rooms from fire are located.

They are there in case you get locked in, and there’s a leak. Kick the plate out and the CO2 will drain from the space and preserve the O2 in the room.

Infuriating.

If I had $1M, I would challenge politicians to take the CO2 pollution challenge.

They would be in one room with a CO2 tank, and I in another. One door would have that kick plate, and the other would not. There would be a visual CO2 level sensor that showed the audience the level of CO2 in the room, and a clock to see how long each of us were still conscious.

The booths would have massive ceilings. Ceilings high enough that were the entire bottle leaked into the compartment, the ceiling would be able to accommodate all of it.

I’d gladly give a million to anyone that could outlast me in that challenge.

Mythbusters should have taken care of this once and for all, but there’s not a real scientist on that show.

It sounds like such a simple solution — even better than pesticides. If only the progressives kept their noses out of things they know nothing about. Who in the world do they consult before making such stupid laws — other progressives?

It is the only plan to split the state that I will support. The last one had SF and Sacramento hooked on the whole north state. That one sucks.

The reason the true north state, cut off north of SF and Sacramento, want to leave is to get the hell away from all of the stupidity and huge liberal vote that is located in those cities.

We are a totally different culture and want no part of what they offer and will never agree with the way they think our world should be.
