How Donald Trump just keeps winning
CNN ^ | 8 Aug 2018 | Chris Cillizza,

Here's an amazing stat: In the last 14 contested Republican primaries where President Donald Trump has endorsed a candidate, his pick has won -- or is leading -- all 14 times.

That's remarkable. (Hat tip to WaPo's James Hohmann for doing the math!) And it speaks to the fact that despite Trump's weak numbers among the general populace, he remains a massively powerful force within the GOP -- someone who can make and break candidacies with a single tweet. Take Tuesday night. Trump endorsed John James in Michigan's Republican Senate primary, Bill Schuette in the Michigan governor's race and Kris Kobach in the Kansas gubernatorial primary.

James, who had been considered an underdog prior to the Trump endorsement, won the right to face Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow. Schuette, the sitting attorney general, crushed the state's lieutenant governor and several other challengers for the right to take on Democratic former state Senate Majority Leader Gretchen Whitmer in the fall.

But Trump's biggest coup appears to be his endorsement of Kobach, the controversial secretary of state who currently holds a lead of fewer than 200 votes over appointed Gov. Jeff Colyer. (The race has not yet been called by CNN.) Kobach, who led Trump's short-lived commission to investigate electoral fraud, is a favorite of the state's Trump conservatives but viewed very, very suspiciously by the party's establishment. His victory, if it holds, would make the Kansas governor's race competitive. Trump, never one to avoid the tooting of his own horn, tweeted this out on Wednesday morning: "5 for 5!" Presumably, that's a reference to Trump's endorsement record on Tuesday -- counting Troy Balderson's apparent win in the Ohio congressional special election and Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley's easy win in the state's Senate primary race alongside Kobach, Schuette and James.

Actually It is that Democrats have nothing in their agenda to enhance prosperity. All they have is re-distribution from the achievers to those who can not achieve. And lately they have added LGBTQ issues in their platform.

Well, jealousy is a powerful emotion, and that is the main reason democrats survives as a major party.

Trump is moving quickly towards eliminating the GOPe.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are lucky that some of the worst ones are quitting, Ryan, Corker, Flake, Hatch, but he has to stop endorsing them.
He endorsed McCain and Romney.
He has too, CNN and the rest of the media sure won't do it for him.
True Dat!
Of course, any nipple-trafficking, quasi-celebrity that can hire writers to come up with a moderately original insult for the President INSTANTLY rockets to the top of every "independent news" feed for dissemination to the benighted masses.....
Black men are warming to Trump. He has 29% of their support. No so with black women. They’re like any other liberal woman. Thanks to clueless TV shows like The View they hate Trump with a passion.
Does that 87% Dem turnout include illegal and dead voters?
The Dem got 87% of the vote total the Dem loser got in the 2016 general election against Pat Tiberi. O’Conner was a well spoken Dem candidate against a sheepish Balderson. Balderson got 40% of Tiberi’s 2016 vote total and still out polled O’Conner. All that really says is Tiberi won in a landslide in 2016. Tiberi was popular in OH-12. Balderson had better put away the note pad and start speaking to the audience with head up. His appearance with Trump on Saturday was awful and no better last night in this post election celebration.
I’m not sure if Balderson could be a worst public speaker in the 2 times I’ve seen him in the last 5 days. He probably has more upside than downside so he has a decent shot of winning again in November. I assume his 1700 vote margin will hold up.
However, having a white wife will hurt him in some black circles.
Having a white wife is the ultimate status symbol for a black man.
Dems are not going to spend 33 million against him In Nov. He will easily win since Republicans in his district will show up for other state wide races.
That statistic wins the prize for the most misinterpreted of the week (although the conclusion doesn’t change). The Dem turnout was 87% of what it was in 2016. The Republican turnout was 40% of what it was in 2016. The conclusion remains: the Pubs better wake up and GOTV.
We have to do better!
The Rats hit peak turn out. Their whole army is on the field - no reserves. The GOP wall held, and November they will be overrun.
What they don’t mention is that the statewide uncontested gov primary races had a big differential. Repubs had 130,000 more voters show up to the polls on primary day.
PT is going to carry the GOP to victory kicking and screaming.
The GOP candidate in the PA 5th is running away from him. She already had a tough go, but she needs to get crushed.
Rush had this stat on his show. It is not possible. A 90% turnout vs a 40% turnout would have been a Dem landslide...even in a Rep majority district. Those numbers cannot be correct. Even in Presidential elections there is not 90% turnout.
