These are monopolized forums in which the public communicates, and they designed it to be so.
Sure they designed it that way. Just like Myspace, Google+, Wikia, Viber, and every one of the other hundreds of hopeful social media platforms designed themselves to be monopolistic.
The network effect pretty much dictates that the successful ones will be quasi monopolies because their value to the user is greater the more participating users they have.
