I think Trump makes the mistake of punching down and it minimizes him. I couldn’t win a presidential election...now or ever. But, if I was him...the next time I got on television I would simply shake my head (only if asked) and say, “As president, I would love to sit down and discuss the issues happening in the communities they profess to love to see how we can make progress. As president, my hope is that my policies are already making an impact. I realize taking a knee brings the athletes a lot of attention. But, I think it would be more beneficial to shine a light and put hard work on the ground in the communities they say they’re concerned about. Maybe they will...maybe they won’t. But, as a patriotic American, I couldn’t imagine attending or watching a game where athletes won’t even stand for the flag of the country their fellow Americans die supporting. Some of these Americans come from the same communities they profess to love.”
The whole stand or sit for the flag attention would end anyway, if enough people stopped attending and watching the game. In fact, if it’s unpatriotic to take a knee during the pledge. It should definitely feel unpatriotic to support the industry that does it with your hard earned dollars and time.
