Far-right protesters and counter-protesters have descended on Washington, D.C., on Sunday on the one-year anniversary of the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville.
Earlier in the day on Sunday, hundreds of counter-protesters took part in demonstrations across the city as white nationalists prepared for their rally.
Apparent smoke bombs set off at white nationalist rally

The Hill witnessed what appeared to be at least one smoke bomb go off at the beginning of the "Unite the Right 2."
Someone appears to have set off a smoke bomb at the center of an anti-fascist protest.
'Unite the Rally 2' draws huge counterprotests
Updated: 4:14 p.m.
Around two dozen white nationalists have arrived at Lafayette Park for Unite the Right 2, a rally commemorating the one-year anniversary since last years deadly Charlottesville demonstrations.
Though white nationalist organizer Jason Kessler originally said he suspected there could be up to 400 attendees, it appears there were only around 25.
On the other side of the park, thousands of counterprotesters have mobilized against the white supremacists. The counter-protesters, who marched in from separate events throughout the city, are marching throughout the roads surrounding the White House and gathering on the side of Lafayette Park where they have a permit.
There is significant distance between the dueling demonstrations, with each side barricaded off. Police in neon vests are gathered in the middle.
Law enforcement escorted the roughly 25 white nationalists onto the side closer to the White House.
Kessler has been speaking and intermittently taking breaks for around 20 minutes so far.
An agent provocateur.
He was a rioter and organizer at Occupy Wall St, a Soetoro fan boy and a huge Lefty.
We are supposed to believe that, on election day 2016 the scales fell from his eyes like Saul on the road to Damascus and he became a neo Nazi, White supremacist that loudly supports the President.
I have no doubt that Soros and/or the DNC is still signing his paycheck.
James O'Keefe needs to do an exposé on this mutt.
Exactly.
I think Kessler was just hoping to get Antifa to riot and burn down DC.
Paid anarchists!
Wonder if I haveta go to work tomorrow (she said wistfully). About a mile from WH.
That's because the guy is a fraud. He's a plant. This guy comes out of nowhere last year, no conservative credentials, nobody knows who he is, and all of the sudden he's organizing "Unite the Right" rallies with David Duke, goose-stepping Nazis wearing MAGA hats, and people getting killed.
There's good reason the legitimate pro-Trump groups like Proud Boys wanted nothing to do with this and stayed far, far away.
This guy is a straight-up leftist trying to make Trump supporters look bad.
In 1999, I was in Washington DC on a temporary assignment. There was going to be a huge Neo-Nazi rally on a Saturday. We were all warned to stay away from the area, as trouble was expected. I went over there to see for myself. There were cops mounted on horseback with both cop and horse wearing gasmasks. There were hundreds of cops in full riot gear. A bus rolled up surrounded by cops, about 12 guys got off the bus, one of them yelled stuff thru a bullhorn. After about 15 minutes the 12 guys got back on the bus, and away they went. They never even left what was supposed to be the assembly point. A few blocks away about 100 “counter demonstrators” hooted and hollered, and they too left after about 30 minutes.
Big Fizzle then, Big Fizzle Now, 19 years later. I expected as much.

White nationalists attending the Unite the Right 2 rally reportedly left in few numbers on Sunday in Washington, D.C.
The roughly two dozen demonstrators who attended the rally had reportedly been escorted out of Lafayette Park by local police to the cheers of hundreds of people protesting them.
The "Unite the Right 2" rally had initially been scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. and go until 7 p.m.
The counterprotests had dwindled significantly as well, but one protester said the anti-fascists are "still here."

Who are the demonstrators and who are the protestors?
Thousands of leftists protest in DC opposed by small contingent of white nationalists.
If the media suppresses news of the Right to Life March having thousands of people, then it means it never happened.
And FReepers can stop saying “The old legacy media is dead. I only watch TV news if my grandparents have it on TV during Thanksgiving weekend when I’m stuck in the house with everybody. I get news online.....”
If the Leftist Biased Media People make some news disappear it never happened. Then they say “A biased, right wing fake news online site tried to say Right to Life supporters marched.” Or “An unreliable site banned by Facebook,Twitter, iTunes and from Google searches has said .”
The dinosaur/fake news media is still plenty influential even though their influence is waning. They still set the daily narrative - it’s just a matter of how many people are listening to them in the way they want us to.
Has anyone yet defined a “white nationalist?”
What is it, and what is the issue with it???
bump
I was just going to ask the same questions .
it appears there were only around 25.
I was there. Lafayette was packed. I have no idea the number but the sHill is lying.
the counter protest was BLM and they had huge numbers. Their march covered more than one city block.
Antifa was gathering at the other end of PA ave but their numbers pretty small, less than 50, but there were more heading there as we left.
The police outnumbered everyone. Every officer had to be on duty.
Did you take pictures and video?
My son did. He wore a MAGA hat while we were marching with BLM. A scuffle ensued. Happy to be home.
