I have met your Mom! And i can understand why she hated the place. The Registry Department was in the basement, poorly lit, and had unfinished concrete walls. It was very Gloomy, uninviting, and institutional. I actually REMEMBER feeling oppressed by the building when I got my Marriage License there in 1972.
