Legal weed is not such a good idea with the strong strains they have now . Add in the greed of politicians looking at tax windfalls and the stoned populace is more easily manipulated IMHO. Decriminalization is a logical step because it would take away huge costs via the courts and probation etc... Just my two cents .

If that were true, then politicians, especially in blue states, would be leading the charge to legalize. That has not happened. The first 8 states to legalize did so by referendum.
Politicians are way out of step with the people on this issue.
The “strength” of the weed is a dumb point, IMHO. People used to roll up huge amounts and smoke it like cigarettes. Now people “vape” tiny doses — same effect, just a lot easier on the lungs.
