How could he not have any idea? I could see someone about 25 y/o or less saying that, because schools have not been teaching much about true Socialism or Capitalism for decades.
But someone his age should have at least heard a discussion someplace during their college years.
What was he doing as a young man that this never even left an impression? Wrestling with gender issues, yes, but anything else? He doesn’t understand the business model this country is crafted on.
The fact that he seems totally unconcerned about the topic should worry anyone thinking of casting their vote for him this fall. This is totally apart and separate from the fact that he cross-dresses in clothing three sizes too small and of the opposite gender. We haven’t even broached that topic yet.

At that point anything they try to say I just tell them to GET A DICTIONARY and learn how to use it.
IT has been surprisingly more effective than trying to argue sense to them by pointing out where they are wrong.

This is actually a good point.
Socialism is more a label, an epithet, than a concrete concept. Lots of people, for or against, have tried to define it, but its a slippery thing.
Many “conservative” governments have had programs that “socialists” elsewhere have advocated for and used to define themselves.
It really is a mess.
That’s because almost everyone has a cause in which they want to compel their neighbor to help pay for!
