Yuh, okay. Because the bad guys are NOT bright enough to use a REVOLVER and dump the casings at the scene. Back to the usual 9th circus antics.

Criminal picks up brass.

“CURSES, FOILED AGAIN!”

Its LOOOOOONG past time SCOTUS took up this case.

If a state can get away with passing a law that is literally impossible to comply with in order to deny people the ability to exercise their constitutional rights, then those constitutional rights are meaningless.

On top of that, generally a firing pin is one of the simplest parts in a firearm to make and replace... assuming that merely sanding the microstamop off would shorten the original pin enough to cause misfires.

“...new guns must have an indicator that shows when a round is loaded in the weapon’s chamber....”

This is insane. The NRA should get on this. I doubt that makers will even comply with this. Deliberate attempt at denying new gun purchases/ownership.

They should add in 25 lbs trigger pull, bio-optic retinal scan to fire, maximum magazine capacity of 2, trigger depression timer of 1 minute to limit speed of shots fired. Because, why not?

Remember - these are the same congressmen that wanted to make buckets with holes in them so kids wouldn’t drown.
These are the same congressmen that wanted to redefine pi as 3 to make it easier for kids to understand.

Let’s just force manufacturers to use technology that hasn’t been invented yet!

To solve a problem that does not exist!

Finally, the third provision “requires new handguns to stamp microscopically the handgun’s make, model, and serial number onto each fired shell casing.”

1. I have to believe that this is a violation of the Commerce Clause. Forcing manufacturers to make expensive changes (of dubious utility - but that’s another argument) just for one state will make ALL firearms more expensive in ALL states. That is simply not permitted.

2. I do believe that any criminal worth his salt will arrange to be in possession of brass fired from a firearm similar to their own (i.e. same make/model) which brass was fired by POLICE personnel. Also, they will be careful to wipe any fingerprints from the brass. Either that, or they’ll use a revolver, and STILL toss the police brass around, just to confuse everyone (and gum up any case against them).

Guns currently on the roster are exempt from the microstamping ruling, until they are altered in any way and have to be re-certified.

California is the only reason why Glock still makes the Gen 3 guns. The Gen 3 guns are on the roster, the newer Gen 4 and Gen 5 guns are not, because of the microstamping requirement.

Wanna confuse police investigators? Pick up brass from a Sheriff’s or police department range... later scatter at a crime scene. Twenty minutes later, Detective So and So will be arrested. 😎

First of all, they are not shell “casings.” Second, the primer is not part of the shell case but sits in the primer pocket.
