Insanity: Despite the fact that you could bury the world’s trash in a minuscule portion of the Earth, Left-wing environmental wackos are hell-bent on getting as many modern conveniences banned or regulated as possible.

In recent months they’ve managed to convince liberal lawmakers and policymakers that plastic straws will destroy the planet if they are not banned from at least some major cities. Now these same goofballs are coming after another party favorite: Balloons.

Instead of banning so many individual items why don’t we simply ban leftards?

Did you think they would stop at straws? No! They were never going to stop there. Next? Bottled water. Tell that to joggers, hikers, and everyone who stays hydrated. They are control fascists.

Exactly right. I call them secular puritans......the thought that someone somewhere might be living life and taking care of their own business. Secular Puritans cannot have that.

From what I read, and I could be wrong about this, latex ballons decompose faster than an oak leaf. Latex balloons, not the attached ribbon or mylar balloons. And the sea turtle balloon story is a myth as well.

I could live with that, I’m a bridge builder, compassion is my material of choice. Take the straws, balloons, any other feedstock that offends your frail uninformed beliefs. If, as would be in a just world, those resources were used for internment camps for you ignorant wailing psychopathic thugs smug. Never in history’s pages has there been more the chasm that swallowed common sense worse than these goose-stepping do-gooder group think Goebbels. Hence, they hold court with any foe before that pompously inflicts their derangement to the detriment of humanity’s well being. War has virtue when defeat demands a wretched lie in shackles.

Did anyone really believe these eco wackos were going to stop at plastic shopping bags and plastic straws? That’s like trying to believe anti-gun nuts will stop their efforts after some so-called “common sense” gun laws are enacted.

I grew up using those waxy paper straws. What’s wrong with that? I could get really give a hoot about a balloon, seriously. I think nitrile gloves make funnier balloons anyway, at least you can play cow with them

I just wish people would stop releasing balloons into the great wide open. The same goes for sky lanterns, etc. No matter the fancy sentiment behind the release it is still trash when it lands. And it is harmful to wildlife. I feel the same way about roadside memorials that are festooned with stuffed animals and other toys.

Just clean up after yourselves.

I say we invade those water banning hearings and the first one who gets up to the podium scaring people with the horrors of water balloon get about 50 water balloons hurled at them.

An inert gas which can be extracted from the atmosphere and returns to that atmosphere.

You don't extract He from the atmosphere. You could, but it would be insanely expensive due to the extremely low atmospheric concentration levels. A lot of it comes as a by product of natural gas wells, but there are other sources. Given its important uses in certain applications, I question it's use in balloons and whatnot myself, but that should really be an economic thing, not something banned by legislation.

The U.S. has a 'strategic helium reserve' that has been in place since WWI. I would also question the need for that, but I'm not sure at this point how much they have sequestered, or what that particular boondoggle currently costs.
