Can Science Study Demonology?

August 12, 2018 | David F. Coppedge

One cannot make predictions about what a mind will do. Secular scientists mock belief in angels and demons, but they have their own occult beliefs.

Science cannot study what it doesn’t believe is real. Secular cosmologists believe dark matter and dark energy are real, but cannot see them. They believe angels and demons are unreal, but then have to account for things that defy natural explanations. Let’s see how they do.

The Demon of School Shootings

Nikolas Cruz, the suspect accused of killing 17 in the Parkland school shooting last year, says that a demon told him to “burn, kill, and destroy” before he went on his killing rampage. He said he heard voices in his head encouraging violence, and also accusing him that he was “nobody” that deserved to die. In a video interview just released, he repeatedly slaps himself and appears to be talking to the voice in his head.

From the article:

“If you want to understand demonology, look no further than Jesus Christ. He cast out demons, and gave that power to his disciples. The demons bowed before him, knowing who He was. They could not stand before the power of the Son of God, knowing that He was their judge. Even when it appeared they succeeded in having the crowds turn on Him and crucify Him, they could not keep Him in the tomb; when He arose, he triumphed over them finally and forever. In Christ, Satan is powerless to possess a Christ follower. That doesn’t mean that we should ever give him any opportunity, because Satanic forces can ‘oppress’ believers though not ‘possess’ anyone indwelt by God the Holy Spirit. Christ is the ‘word’ that triumphs over Satan, as Luther wrote in A Mighty Fortress Is Our God —

And though this world, with devils filled,
Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim,
We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
For lo! his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers,
No thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours
Through Him who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go,
This mortal life also;
The body they may kill:
God’s truth abideth still,
His Kingdom is forever.”

If they can get a government grant to study demonology, then they can study demonology.

No grant, no study.

As long as they don’t upset the demons, I suppose.

It’s mainly in the west where demons are ignored or treated skeptically.

It's also mainly in the west that technological progress and general prosperity have occurred.

In order to study anything using the scientific method, it must be something that can be observed with your senses and that can be examined by formulating a possible causal explanation (hypothesis) for those observations. You must be able to test that hypothesis by designing an experiment that will either prove or disprove it. If the hypothesis is not supported by the results of your experiment, it will have to be modified and tested further.

As I tell my General Biology students, matters of faith and belief (which would include demonology) cannot be tested by the scientific method. I believe in God and the spiritual realm (including demons) because "the Bible tells me so", not because they can be explained by the scientific method.

Yeah, I don't know what that demon's name is, but his job is Defense Attorney and he doesn't have much imagination.

“They believe angels and demons are unreal, but then have to account for things that defy natural explanations.”

All they have to do is study many members of the left to be convinced that demon possession is alive and well in this Republic.

The article was written by someone who does not understand consciousness or the science of consciousness.

Consciousness is material and actually follows the laws of physics, including quantum physics. The Bible, while correct is merely theories and philosophies of the anatomy & physiology of the human soul and how it interacts with its environment. A study that explains and demonstrates this is currently in the works and will be published in early 2019.

I am right now, as I write this in a university seminar with the leading researcher in the world relating to “Spirituality and Medicine” discussing the future publications.

You are missing the most important variable in the equation.

Science can certainly study what people believe and what has been written on the subject.
