You may wonder how Socialism persists with all those ills. The problem is you have a large core of lazy ignorant people who, no matter how bad things get, will feel things will be worse if they have to WORK HARD again. They are the Free Stuff Army (FSA) who will be bought off by getting something for nothing or nearly so. Even the loss of electricity, food and water might not dissuade them.

I’ve worked with emigres from Russia, France, India, and China. It is astonishing how many yearn for the old country where you didn’t have to compete, the government took care of you, you didn’t have to deal with messy everyday life and the challenge of putting bread on the table, and decisions were made by the state for you. Much more-so the first three than China.
