LBJ was the Senate Majority Leader in the late 50’s.

When President Eisenhower wanted to pass meaningful Civil Rights Legislation, LBJ Blocked any progress in getting it done. Things like that were best left for a DemoncRat President.

My guess is he knew if a Republican President passed such Legislation, the DemoncRats would lose the support of them Ni**ers as he liked to call Negroes.

IIRC, a military aide was showing LBJ to the designated Marine One aaircraft at Andrews AFB.

“Sir, this is your helicopter.”

“Son, they’re ALL my helicopters!”

My Dad was assigned to the Pentagon 1964-68. Every hallway was lined with chain of command photos from POTUS on down. The Vietnam war was on, and one of his colleagues had the unenviable task of every morning cleaning the spit off the photo of LBJ. The mystery spitter was never caught and there even may have been a number of them.

LBJ was just a racist, not a civil rights hero. He used ‘civil rights’ as a means to raid Social Security, increase government, strengthen the elite, and put Blacks essentially back on the plantation. He was a quintessential democrat, because people believed he did the right thing for the right reason. He did neither.
