The Gary Works was always the big dog on the block, but 50 - 70 years ago, the Chicago/East Chicago/Gary corner of Lake Michigan was replete with steel mills: Wisconsin Steel, Inland Steel, US Steel South Works, Acme Steel and Inland Steel are the ones I remember - and they’re long gone. Good to see that the Gary Works is still going strong.
And add Republic Steel to that list.
Grandpa worked at Wisconsin Steel, Pop worked at Republic.
